7/15/2016 - Production on my car begins.
8/3/2016 - Production on my car is completed.
8/4/2016 - Car is on the way to the ports, and is still awaiting assignment for a shipping vessel.

I am hoping that I can take delivery in August, especially since I live in the Northeast and the boat ride should be shorter than most other destinations in USA.
You might even be on the same boat as me. Sometimes they start at the south end of the east cost and work up. I'm betting you'll have it first week of September.

I've had a long wait for this:

December 2014 - After reading more "official" word on the M2, called my sales rep and asked to be put on any list they have.
February 1, 2016 - Heard from my sales rep that I'm #18 on the list.
June 30, 2016 - Asked my sales rep how fast they are filling allocations so I can get an idea of when I can order.
July 15, 2016 - Get a call from my sales rep saying I can now order my M2.
July 16, 2016 - Go to dealership when they open in the morning to place my order.
September 14, 2016 - My M2 goes into production.
September 23, 2016 - My M2 finishes production.
October 7, 2016 - My M2 gets on the boat.
October 26, 2016 - My M2 arrives in Galveston.
October 28, 2016 - My M2 arrives at the dealership.
October 29, 2016 - I finally get to buy my M2 and bring it back home.

I've gotten my production number from my sales rep and have it set up in MyBMW, but so far no VIN assigned.

Technically, this "waiting period" started in October of 2011. I saw the reviews for the 1 Series M and went to a dealer asking about that. I was obviously too late to get one of those, but did order a 135i figuring that would tide me over until they made a proper M for the 2 series. It seemed inevitable given the very positive reception of the 1 series M.

In theory I should be getting the car in September sometime. After getting the order set up my sales associate said "I have good news and bad news. Good news is you get a 2017. Bad news is it went up $200." Since then I discovered the other bad news is BMW gimping the "worry free maintenance" program starting with 2017 models, but I still want the car, so.....gonna have to live with that.

I was originally planning European delivery when I expected I wouldn't be able to get one until next year, but I have conflicts that prevent my doing that in September. A bit bummed about that, but what can you do.

You should be able to confirm your production week by calling BMW directly. Speak to a representative and give them your production number. In order for you to get it in September I'm assuming it would have to finish production within the next couple of weeks.

My order is 2017 AW with manual transmission and blacked out front grills which will be port installed and therefore delay delivery slightly.

01/19/2016 – order placed, number 1 on dealer list (a small dealer in Connecticut)
06/16/2016 – received allocation with production number; assigned week 34 production
(August 14 – 20)
07/20 – BMW fixed MYBMW access so that I can track online

I figure if all goes well my car should be built by August 20 (that’s what the geniuses told me) and ready to pick up by late September or early October.

I’m wondering if the differential problems / stop build / recall is going to slow down the process for orders like mine that are scheduled for production since BMW will be using any available replacement diffs to first satisfy those already built (as they should).

I too will update as we go, unless someone brow beats this thread as pointless and useless and shames me off my laptop!

This thread should be under the Pricing / Ordering series of threads.
..... Update:
According to MYBMW tracker (which apparently can be a few days behind actual status) entered production yesterday, 8/05 which is about ten days ahead of schedule. This was supposed to be a week 34 production which, according the the Geniuses, is August 14 - 20.

Curious how BMW determines the week numbers. Shouldn't August 14-20 be week 33?

All I know is that I spoke by phone with a Genius and he said week 34 was my production week and that was August 14 - 20. Reading various posts in this and other threads, it's obvious that the information we get is ... variable (trying to be polite!).

When I called BMW, I jotted down my production week on a post it note. I just looked and apparently they did tell me Sept 11-17 for week 38. That should be week 37. I guess we all can't complain if BMW's week numbers are ahead by a week.

Thats why I'm glad this thread was started. It seemed like so much conflicting info on order process was being passed around. Nice to have it all documented so people ordering can refer to some realistic timelines/not freak out about their order not matching others.

So you asked to be placed on the wait list back in December 2014 and that only got you #18?

So looks like BMW USA doesn't allow their systems to be accessed outside of the country. My CA and I are out of the country for weddings so I asked him to look if the car got shipped and when he tried logging in it didn't allow him to. I will try to call BMW directly for an update but the my tracker updated to en route as of yesterday which is usually a few days behind.

BMW build weeks are based on the ISO-8601 standard, a reference site for dates of each week can be found at http://www.epochconverter.com/weeks/2016.

That is what I originally thought but according to what was posted before, that is not the case. It seems that BMW is ahead of that chart by a week.

As mentioned before, likely due to them counting the week that includes the 1st as week 1 even though the week starts with days from the end of last year.

I guess it depends if you believe its SOP or EOP. They told me I had a week 31 (8/1-8/7) build date and that was EOP. It later updated to being completed August 3rd.

That is what I thought as well based on numerous posts. There is obviously conflicting information. Based on when people posted their actual production date, it coincides with it being EOP.

Now if we can only clarify how BMW is determining the week numbers for 2016...
