Basically, the dealership did not get ANY allocations for customer cars. My CA told me I could buy their HEA car NOW at MSRP if I want it, but it is not the configuration I want, so I am going to wait.

He also told me that he searched the system and found that only ~400 allocations were given INCLUDING HEA cars.

That means roughly 75-100 or so customer cars, and that's it....

I am going to be waiting until the configurable allocation comes through, but looks like that will result in getting a 2017....
What is the specs on the HEA car they have available?

Which means the warranty is going to be 3 years/36,000miles for virtually all M2s instead of the 4 year, 50,000 miles in place up to now. Thereby allowing BMW to pocket about $1,200 per car. Which, IMO, is the intended purpose behind this MY shell game.

Interesting.

M2 ALLOCATION

Production for the Months of May and June have been allocated. The allocation was based on

6 Months of New Retail – M models Including M235 Cp & Cv - Excluding Service Loaner, Sales Demo, and Specialty Demo

6 Months of Specialty Demo Updates – M models Including M235 Cp & Cv

M2 Coupe SPG

Order Bank

This allocation represents the last of the MY16 production. Due to the extremely large order bank we will convert Model Year 2016 order bank requests into Model Year 2017 order bank requests.

I am in the order bank right now so I am guessing I will be a 2017. Better than nothing but I was hoping for a 2016.

BMW of Austin (one of this year's 32 Centers of Excellence) is getting 17 M2s for the calendar year. Not sure what the distribution of 2016/2017 models is. That's from my sales guy from yesterday.

I think you mean the maintenance program will cover 3 yrs / 36,000 miles beginning MY2017 and fewer items (vs 4 yrs / 50,000 through MY2016). But the actual vehicle warranty is still 4 yrs / 50,000 miles for MY2017.

As of yesterday. My 3 closest dealers have NO allocations. Their HEA cars are on the way. Supposed to be here today, but we had a blizzard overnight.

I'm #1 on three lists. I'm going to be pissed if I cannot get into a '16 M2. When does the '17 SoP begin?

My dealer had received 2. My spot was #1 which I gave to another member here since I decided on getting another M3.

Correct.
I wasn't clear enough. Maintenance not Warranty was cut.

My CA told me the same thing. All MY2016 are done at this point. Still #1 at my dealer after passing on the non-configurable HEA car. He said there was a shocking low amount of allocations in this region thus far.

I also asked about extended warranty options since I'll most likely be getting a MY2017 and he said there will be changes to the extended warranty options but the details are not yet available.

Tired of the miss information, went to dealer and asked for someone with knowledge of the allocations. Wish I could say I heard the same thing as other posts but no. April and May allocations have all been communicated to dealers, none for this dealer. I was told this dealer has 5 allocations for 2016. All are taken but they received a car, HEA? They are offering it for $10k over MSRP - LBB Exec 6sp still available. He claimed 900 total allocations for the US. But said MY2016 allocations will run until July/August. Can't believe anything, just a bunch of sales BS to keep up the hype, so frustrating.

The funny thing is...

///M sales help but I think a lot was based off of ///M235 sales.
Same way allocations went with the 1M.
Big surprise right ?

1 series sales was the most important factor, combined with M car sales. All of you waiting for M2 allocations talking about " My dealer is the biggest M dealer on the planet " need to make sure their big M car dealer also rolled some M235i out the door instead of stepping people to the 3 series from the 2 series.

We shall see if they get 17! But they should get a lot and probably more than any other dealer in Texas actually.

They definitely seemed to have about 5-7 allocations for the 1M which was far more than any of the dealers in Dallas and probably Houston also. Dallas BMW dealers don't order , stock or sell 1 or 2 series cars for shit though, they sell 3 series.

So i fully anticipate far more M2 out of Austin.
Seventeen sounds like two model years worth of cars but hey .. Good on them for selling 1 and 2 series.

Yeah, I'm number 60 something on their wait list. I'm hoping that works out perfectly for the CS while I enjoy my HEA from another dealer.

If this is nothing more than hype then it's one of the worst marketing campaigns I've ever seen. The whole premise is to actually have something to sell, isn't it? You don't see other companies building up anticipation for a product and then only have a limited amount to sell. If they simply misjudged that the M2 would be this desirable then they've got even bigger problems. What they are doing is potentially driving would be buyers to look elsewhere. After owning multiple BMW's for the better part of 14yrs I don't want any other car BMW makes. If I can't get the M2 my $$$ will go elsewhere.

I agree. All this talk about the M2 being an attraction to the showroom then try to sell a M235 or M4 doesn't make sense to me. I will simply go to a different brand or pre-owned as I have no interest in any other new Bimmer currently available.

Not a marketing major so it's confusing, but what kind of marketing is this? To introduce and hype a great entry level product (M4 GTS doesn't apply), then don't want to or can't build enough of them to sell?

We all know the 1M was an experiment so it was made for one year and that was it, sure. But the M2?

Two scenarios possible IMO. First possibility, all of us are pissed off/worried for no reason and BMW is just getting started. Sure they won't be produced in numbers like the M3/4 but if you wanted one hard enough you can get one before end of production. Or second possibility, that M2 is in fact just a car to draw people to showrooms and BMW is willing to lose us, the minority of customers, as a trade off.
