This is just another reason everyone should just wait for the LCI and comp pack.

Order in and confirmed with production number in hand at msrp at another Chicagoland dealer. So there are other dealers that are in there for the long term retention of the client. Good to see knauz on that list too.

I think we all knew this was going to happen. Sad thing is, there are going to be people who will pay that premium to be one of the first ones to take delivery of the M2.

I can second the purchase experience at Knauz; they were $5k better on the M235 than Patrick in Schaumburg a year ago. I was a returning Patrick customer and they simply wouldn't deal.

So what. Wait a year. Probably be better to get a later production date bc it'll probably have issues in the first batch anyway. #calmyourtits

That's awesome to hear that. BMW of Austin is Penske, and I got a great deal on my 2016 M3 there, and I also had a fabulous buying experience (again). They are such pros to deal with.

I'm not looking for an M2 myself, but if anyone wants a referral, ask for Judy Ray at BMW of Austin.

This isn't surprising - anyone who "missed out" on the 1M, who doesn't know that the car isn't a limited production run, or who just wants to be first with the new M car will pay these prices. I surely wouldn't do it, but there's likely going to be people who will...can't take it with you, right?

I'll wait a year... I'd rather take delivery in Europe, new car, the hype and greed.

Actually the greater issue is that there are people that " missed out " and wanted this car five years ago...

If Porsche stopped making Caymans for 5 years between model runs, what kind of pent up demand would there be?

How fast would they be able to respond to that demand ?
How quickly would production be able to be ramped up to meet that demand ?

The simple fact is that if Porsche only sold boxster/Cayman models vs 911 in the same ratios that BMW makes 2 series compared to m3/m4.. No on would wait for a boxster/Cayman either , they would F off and buy a 911

Let's just see this " unlimited " production happen.

I know this isn't the popular opinion but if I was operating a business in the Bay Area, this is what I would do. For those of you outside of CA or not familiar, the Bay Area is home to shit tons of wealth and there is a shitload of money there. Just b/c the regular folks on this forum can't or won't pay 10k over MSRP, doesn't mean some Google Exec who's looking for a fun daily driver for his 16 yr old son/daughter isn't going to walk in and drop the cash. Can you guys blame these dealerships? BMWs are like everyday cars here hahah.

Everyone relax, in 6 months you'll be dealing for these things at Invoice+dealer profit hahah. Not like this doesn't happen every single time a new M model comes out. Look at the i8, they were going for 100K over sticker at introduction. Sheesh

I'm 11th on "the list" at an SF Bay Area dealer.
And they're only getting 8 allocations for the 2016 model year.
So yeah, I'll probably be getting a 2017 M2.

As for the $10K markup? They'll find suckers who will pay that.
Plenty of tech money in Silicon Valley and SF.
And you can factor in the potential future value of an instant classic BMW.

It's funny how people cry about a market adjustment yet, when an old used car is worth a million bucks, it's a collectors item and that value is warranted. I just choose to not buy it rather than cry about it.

Value is only perceived, not an absolute measurement.

On a side note, go try and find a Ford Mustang GT350 for sticker. Or 5k over. Lol

If I have to pay $10k above MSRP for a M2, I'd just buy a M3, which is a better car anyway.

whelp, I am giving up a #1 spot if anyone wants to get in line.

Classic BMW
Willoughby, Ohio

We had a verbal agreement for ed msrp. it makes sense why they didn't take a deposit now. they are only getting 2 allocations for the year. these 2 will be 5000-10000 over msrp.

one bright side. their HEA car is available. I think it's AW, DCT, EXEC for msrp

if I paid 5-10 more id get the M3.

I can't for the life of me figure out the animosity for dealerships. yeah yeah, business go fuck yourself. I bet you watch that Martin Skrillhi guy's podcast too cause that's business.

The one that, IIRC, only wanted 20K over sticker for an 1M a few years back?
