Because the launch cars are not allowed to be sold until after the launch.Customer cars get sold first and then the launch cars are supposed to be sold after about a week or two from the launch. The whole point of a BMW launch car being sent to the dealer,is to have a car at the dealership that potential customers can see.

Look, I am not the only one who has been told this. A quick search will find two or three others who have been told the same thing. I am not saying that it will actually happen until I have the car in my hand, but until I get a call from my dealer I will believe them.

I have spoken with 20+ dealers and the smaller ones are pissed at BMW for sending them a demo car but zero or one allocation for the year. It does nothing for the dealer and hurts productivity as they have to deal with customers browsing the car and wasting resources when they literally can't even sell one for over a year. The larger dealers I have spoken with are pissed at BMW for sending demo cars to low allocation dealers before they get them. The entire launch is handled poorly.

Call around and speak with enough of them and you might be surprised the answers you get from low volume dealers with demo cars. Even if it's an honest mistake, there is precedent for that happening with several other cars.

My dealer received one HEA car and that one went to the first person on the list. I received an email Friday saying they got another allocation, a non-HEA and that it was going to me. I received order confirmation with production number yesterday. Not sure what they did to get an allocation but I'm OK with it!

If bmw withholds the MSO, there is nothing to covert to a title so there are many ways to prevent delivery. Then there is the possibility that if you break the rule they might withhold future allocation of the car so why take the risk.

If you want an allocation they are out there, just call around. There is a 6mt alpine white available in ohio as of yesterday that is at msrp.
Can you PM me the dealership info that is offering the Alpine White one?

Also check out www.Turo.com for the rental, it's like AirBnB for cars. A lot of owners offer month/week long rentals at a discounted rate.

Any updated if the actual allocations were sent to dealers?

My dealer here on east coast said the distribution of allocations is a "wave effect" starting with west cost and coming to the east "any day now"

Iv been reading ppl placing orders on for non HEA cars and they all seem to be west cost.. Any east cost guys able to place oder for non hea car using normal allocations?

My dealer told me they have five (5) allocations for the year, but I'm #1 and I don't have a production number...So I gotta also say, "Negative here, despite what they've said!"

Just got confirmation from BMW, cars are being held at port until "at least" mid april due to the EPA taking their sweet ass time certifying it. Fucking government.

Hello everyone (still a noob in the forums)!

Any Europeans ordered the car around OCT-NOV and still don't have production number? It seems that in EU is the same as US, but my dealer (Spain) told me that they are going to have the "definitive" info on the 1st week of March (that includes all allocation dates for 2016).

I believe that the lucky ones that are getting their cars in April are HEA cars or other sort of negotiations, different than the normal customers?

It has been expected but never confirmed. Now we wait and get confirmation (if this is true, still) this close to release? God dammit. I've had no time to plan my shit out since I never know what is freaking going on at BMWNA. If I could just know this news (good or bad) earlier and with absolute confirmation, I wouldn't be in a terrible spot right now where I won't have a car for 3 months.

It won't be a dealer breaker for me, but any idea/speculation on how many cars will actually be produced within the time limit (before June 2016) for the 4yr/50,000 mile warranty period... It's looking more and more like there will be very few people receiving this warranty.

On Topic: the dealers I've spoken to in New England also don't have allocations as of yet. Lot's of people on the waiting lists but no solid info yet.

Knowing that US bound cars are now to be held at port for months after production, would a limitation on port storage capacity influence the production pipeline?

There is still a maintenance program in 17. It just doesn't cover as much like the brakes and wiper blades.

Oh, I knew that. I was just specifically calling out the current warranty offered.

Talked to another dealer than I am working with and they informed me they are only getting two (2) for the year. That is besides their HEA car (AW, Exec, DCT). No modifiable allocations have been released yet.

Negative here too. I contacted my dealer from all the excitement today from the M2 reviews. No allocations yet and he's the top M sales guy.

Do those three orders have production numbers?
