I went in thinking I was going to get a 1LT Grand Sport, which is essentially a Z51 with a Z06 body and suspension. I had driven a Z51 previously, but ended up getting a non-Z51 because I liked how it rode and didn’t really feel a difference in test driving (at least from memory). I think you’re right in that the Z51 shows you it’s worth more on the track, but then you should be getting a Grand Sport instead for essentially the same money. Now the Grand Sport you can tell a dramatic difference in driving and handling. Very happy with the grip and acceleration. No regrets.

The “base” car, if you can really call it that, is still very capable, fun to drive and great to look at. If you want a new 1LT, you can get them in the $48k range. I wanted the dual mode exhaust, ventilated seats and memory, front and rear cameras. I could live without the HUD, but I do use it. I would have been fine with a 1LT, but felt that the 2LT was the sweet spot package.

About 420whp I believe. I mean it doesn't get as obliterated as I thought it would from 0-100. Falls back about a car length after 70

Also mainly a traction issue with the Z06 unless you really heat the tires up

I dunno, my C7 has pretty brutal off the line acceleration and fits in the corners just as well as an M2 does as they are very similar in size. But the vette is about 7” lower, weighs 150-200lb less and has 100 more HP. So I would almost attribute a tuned M2 keeping up with a Z06 to driver skills. From everything I have read, it is difficult to take advantage of all the power the Z06 has and you have to be very skilled to extract 10/10 from it.
I am struggling to get less than 30mpg in the highway which is way higher than the 25mpg highway on the window sticker. It really is like having the best of both worlds. I imagine my 135is with Dinan tune and DCT has very similar acceleration to the M2. Very fast but you can tell a difference when swapping cars back to back. |

I can attest the C7 Z06 has too much power for the chassis. I had an aftermarket supercharger of my C7 making about 600 WHP and 570 TQ. It's bonkers in 1st and 2nd gears as tires have trouble keeping traction under full throttle. (But holy sh... it is thrilling at an out-of-body-experience level.) Only way to make full use of that power in that chassis is in 3rd gear at go-to-jail speed. GM acknowledges this as well hence they are hard at work on a MR version.
I still get chills from full acceleration in lower gears without the SC. I personally don't care for the wider body as the regular is already wider than I'd like. Although its footprint is about the same as Cayman, C7's long hood and low ride make it feels like a wider car than it is. Hopefully my future stage2 M2 will have similar rewarding driving experience |

I would recommend the Diablo tuner. It allows you to select a wide range of throttle response. And of course it has multiple off-the-shelf tunes for various octane/mod scenarios. Mine will be for sale in a month or two lol
C7 highway mileage is pretty amazing. I can get 35mpg on a long trip mainly in eco mode doing 75mph in 6th gear at 1700rpm (I don't ever use 7th). Best mileage I have ever gotten in a 50 mi stretch was 40mpg. AC wasn't on and maybe it had the benefit of tailwind but I still like to brag about it from time to time City mileage is brutal though: gets about 14mpg, maybe. P.S. thanks for the reassurance. As you can tell, I am going from an NA manual car to a turbo DCT car so I have my share of angst. Your reassurance definitely helps put my mind at ease Last edited by RedCarrot; 09-15-2017 at 11:33 PM.. |

I believe the DCT on my 135 is the same as the DCT on the M2. It’s honestly very good. I’m not sure how the gear ratios are set up though or compares to my car. I’m sure someone does. Having never driven an M2, I can imagine it has similar acceleration (maybe a tick slower than me due to weight and drag from tires) to my car, but since is wider with bigger tires will out handle my car. I think you can improve the 135i handling but it’s really the small tires they used that did a disservice to the car which is why I went a size up. That with better, more grippy tires really helps. I average 21-22 mpg in fairly heavy traffic with some 55-75 mph stretches. The M2has nearly the same fuel economy estimates so I would guess you would do similarly depending on how you drive of course.
And I get about 28-29mpg on the highway if I drive 65-75. |

I have been reading about it, but it seems like neither solution totally fix the issue, but both may?

I have a 2008 135i Conv and a 2017 C7 Grand Sport 7-speed manual (3 season vehicle)...replacing the 135i with an M2 this fall (4 seasons; will arrive in early Nov.).
I've had the C7 for a year (just over 5,000 miles) and continue to be thoroughly impressed with performance, ride & build quality and comfort (4,000 mile road trip in May was awesome). I'm looking forward to experiencing the dynamics and differences of both vehicles. |

Yeah I am trying to enjoy mine too before the weather turns. I figure I have at least until mid November.

Using my Diablo tuner, I set the throttle response to +3 (out of 20) and it's just about right for me. I played with it by setting it to +10 and it became more trigger-happy than Dirty Harry. Most cars nowadays have this annoying throttle delay programmed in. My '05 Boxster and '10 GTi had them too. Both were resolved with Sprint Booster, a simple throttle signal intercepting and mapping tool. The improvement in driver connectivity is immeasurable. I am anticipating the M2 will have throttle delay as well having already read likely cases of it. A tune and DP will be imminent for me |

I don't know, I just went to sport mode -> press trac off twice for Competitive Driving Mode and the throttle dead space was gone for me. Other people say the Tony Mamo TB fixed the issue. What I don't like about the throttle controllers is that they are multipliers which means it will hit 100% open well before the end of the pedal travel. You can make your own throttle map with HPtuners but that voids the warranty.

Sometimes it seems like my 135is is faster but I know it’s just the throttle mapping.

Supposedly Vitesse uses the same electronics as Chevrolet, they just modify the signal.
