Another update from yesterday.
So place that I purchased, he said that he is not getting any feedback of tracking the GC plates... which is feels very weird. Then now he actually ordered another one from different supplier to try to make the delivery to be made before this Friday so that I can get all things installed this Sat... Well... There is nothing I can do at this moment.. just crossing my fingers.. |

@F87_LCI Looks great! I'm considering going with basically the same setup. What size tires did you go with on the new wheels? I think they are 10.5" in the rear. Let us know if you encounter any rubbing issues or clearance issues with the front splitter on the new setup. Thanks and best of luck.

Front: 9X19 Offset ET 21 Rear: 10.5 X 19 Offset ET 40 Weight figures known to be around 22.8 Front/ 23.4 Rear (very similar to 437M, VFF103 is ligher than VFF107). But they are wayyyyyyyyyy better looking wheels that you wont find anything simlar on street most of the time. Brixton CM10 has similar look but they are heavier. |

I have since returned to the shop (to change the tires) and I had the front lowered another 5mm. I expect a small amount of settling to occur over the next few 1000 km, say 2-3mm. That will give me the exact look I want while still retaining the handling that the Ohlins should provide (and hopefully allowing me not to "Hulk SMASH" my front lip!). Here is how the car looks now... Last edited by F87_LCI; 04-03-2018 at 03:48 PM.. |

Note: based on numbers* on the M4 thread all of these spring rates are higher than the stock set up. * I wish I had written the numbers for the M4 down...but they are less than 70/140N/mm for sure.

I personally don’t understand the obsession on this forum of people buying very high end suspension designed for maximizing lap times on a race track, then significantly lowering the spring rate in order to achieve ride comfort while hurting their overall performance with a high grip tire which they were designed for 😕
KW V2 would be best suited for this application for a lower grip tire on the track. Once a higher grip tire is used the low rates are going to show their weakness quickly. |

[QUOTE=bovairdf87;23092654]I personally don’t understand the obsession on this forum of people buying very high end suspension designed for maximizing lap times on a race track, then significantly lowering the spring rate in order to achieve ride comfort while hurting their overall performance with a high grip tire which they were designed for 😕
I will explain my obsession for the "have my cake and eat it too" approach. Many high performance cars I have driven have the ability to adjust the suspension on the fly. I had wanted that option which is available in the M3/M4 platform and Porsche Cayman S I was considering. My thought was to pay the extra "option expense" with the Ohlins but have the ability to manually adjust the suspension from the OEM (or a tiny bit softer than OEM) to a suspension that would outperform the stock suspension on a race track for my anticipated 2-3 track days per year. After 30+ years of driving BMWs with Alpina suspensions and my ol 2002 with stiff as hell springs and konis, I have a fair amount of experience with different suspensions...so I am not a complete novice. That said I am only now getting back to some track time after 30 years of back canyons being my only outlet for "spirited" driving. So I am loving the improved performance of the Ohlins but in it's current configuration my wife does not like to go out in my M2. So I am still thinking I can have my cake and eat it to....next steps are an Apex EC 7 18x9.5" square set up and then perhaps swapping to the 70/140N/mm springs. This will not be a soft suspension by any means, still very trackable when set to 1-3 clicks on the dampeners; but hopefully my wife will hop in and head out for an after noon drive up the coast with me too!!!!

I got my Ohlins with recommended spring rates. These are not my soft ride solution. They are for my entertainment. |

Finally got mine done today.
Recommended spring rates front and back and cranked dials 5 fronts and 12 rear. Yeah i have to admit that the ride is harder.. but man it feels suupppeer planted. Got my Sterkenn Splitters mounted as well. Give my huge thanks to Nate@IND for giving me this great piece with good price. Special thanks to Burning Rubber Tire and Speed for such great job getting my Ohlins done. Nearly getting 50/50 on corner diagonal balancing. |

Reccomended spring rates and 20/20 clicks is softer than stock for me on GC camber plates.
No need for softer rates IMO unless you live in Michigan or Montreal IMO. Cars look great! |

Just willing to rectified my previous post as it took a while for my parts to arrive at Alpha but Mohammad has been super helpful. I think I was too eager to have my parts at some point Will definitely do business again for my next parts

Anyone running 18 inch square set ups out there?...I am thinking of going with the Apex 18x9.5" and I'm debating between 255/40 R18 or 265/35 R 18...the guys at Apex seem concerned that with the Ohlins the 265 will rub even with a 5mm spacer....anyone running 265/35 x 18 square set up out there?
