In the end we'll probably never crack the code since I doubt BMW wants people getting free 552's |

I love how their official explanation to me was "ordering system error" yet we've seen that it's still happening... so the Germans have a system error and they don't bother to fix it? Really, BMW? Time to raise the flag:

Not that we've seen on these boards - the only detectable consistency to this point is that non-Exec orders showing 552 get them on the car while non-Exec orders that don't list 552 don't get them on the car.

Well I will now shut up......I found it buried on their build site. It clearly states the 2018 comes std with LED headlights......but it does not state "adaptive"
Standard: Exterior • Double Spoke black, forged light alloy wheels (Style 437M), 19 x 9.0 front, 19 x 10.0 rear; and 245/35 front, 265/35 rear performance tires1 • LED Headlights • Power-folding side mirrors • Non-metallic paint • Shadowline exterior trim • M rear spoiler • M side gill with M2 badging • Kidney grille with black twin slats and M2 designation Interior seating and trim Exec pkg: Adaptive LED Headlights LED headlights make everything on and along the road easier to see, helping to reduce eye fatigue - especially on long drives. LED technology is used for both high and low beams, as well as all 4 Corona headlight-rings. This technology is combined with the Adaptive feature: at speeds up to 35 mph, the headlights swivel to follow bends in the road, based on your steering wheel motion and other metrics. |

You have to dig pretty deeply on the BMW website to get all the specs and features. The LED information has been available to CAs for months. It's been on the Pricing Guide since July 1, and my dealer had the information about the LED headlights and sunroof before that. That's why I decided to pass on his last '17 allocation and take his first '18 allocation.

Here here! Love M cars for not having these and love that BMW makes them not able to be switched on permanently.

The problem is training people to use them correctly. American drivers barely get training on how to drive correctly, so using their lighting options the right way is kind of a huge ask. :P

FYI, my car did NOT show up with the adaptive headlights even though it showed all the way up to the day prior to entering production via BMW Genius. They must have caught it and rectified it. Just thought I would let all know so not to gamble if you want the lights, I didn't gamble, just indifferent to the shape since their both LED's. I'm just finally happy my car arrived today after waiting since Aug. 2016. I got the LCI unexpectedly so I'm not complaining. The dash and taillights are a HUGE improvement IMO, made it worth the wait.

Who has the Hexagon headlights????
I bought my M2 in September (delivery on Nov 16-20) but I just learned that the Hexagon lights were an option. But I thought all the 2018s M2 were equipped with Hexagons. Oh man!!! Some one jump in! Its just that the build image threw me off.

To get the new Hexagon lights you need to get the Adaptive LED headlight option.
Some countries have those as standard, in others it's an option you can order |

Just picked up my Week 42 USA MY 2018 build in Welt. Optioned LBB, Sunroof, Apple CarPlay. No Executive Package. Adaptive LED nor Dazzle never showed on my VIN check. Got standard BMW LED, not Adaptive LED. Still happy af with all the LCI improvements inside and out. The LED Headlight looks great, has fewer moving parts, and is hopefully cheaper and more easily sourcable than the Adaptive to replace years from now.
FWIW, dazzle is the European dimming and brightening of certain headlights for oncoming traffic. It’s an available option on the 5-Series. Eg, the driver’s side first left-most headlight dims first, then as the oncoming vehicle approaches, the second left-most headlight dims, then the left-most right headlight (third left-most headlight) dims. The BMW ED presenter told me this is illegal in the USA. Last edited by cornercase; 11-24-2017 at 09:59 PM.. |
