Don't park at the airport.

Take another mode of transport.

The shape of the car is designed with a Euro plate in mind. The plates in the US don't really fit right and fuck up the aero dynamics and looks terrible. Now I know that it doesn't really matter it messes with the aero, but I just hate they design these things SPECIFICALLY to have good aero and then the front plate just shits all over that engineering.

In California, having no front plate is merely a correctable citation. You have 8 weeks to correct it. Mail the citation in with a $25.00 administrative fee.

That like having venereal disease, going to the urgent care and paying your co-pay :-)

Close but no cigar.

The difference is you hope to God the VD is gone but the plate you can slap it back on without getting the clap again.

Thanks!
I refuse to put additional holes into the nose of the car because of stupid state law that does nothing but provide another reflective surface (LIDAR target) on the front of the car. Remember that there are plenty of states that don't require them. I have the entire front of the car covered in Xpel, so short of large rocks, I shouldn't have any significant damage up there after 3-4 years.

I have never been pulled over for front plate violation, and the one time I did get pulled for speeding, they wrote a speeding ticket and completely ignored the plate. I was in the car with my brother when he was pulled for no front plate, but it was by state park rangers who were looking for drunk or high kids after a concert (we were neither). They gave him a warning and let us go.

I'm looking to pick up a Carbonio plate mount; if I can fix the plate somewhere without damaging the car, without blocking airflow, and have it be relatively secure, I'm not supremely against the front plate (and indeed, following the law does make you less attractive to harassment).

I agree with you re: interesting license plates though...

Taxi's no, van's yes, if i don't mind leaving 5 hours early and returning 5 hours after landing. I live well outside the city, far enough for it to be rural. I frequently have to fly with little notice (I keep a day bag in the car).

I tried Uber and Lyft but it was 50/50 if there was a car at all and they always canceled when they found out where I was going.

I have the Stow and Show and have no issues other than using the self tapping screw which is useless in my opinion. The underside of the bumper is about 1/16" thick and will not hold (strips). I would not use this screw if I were to do it again. Also I would never take my car to a car wash, they just do too much damage.

That one only really works up in Canada... I only "got it" because of 3 years of high school French along with a few weeks eating sandwich au jambon.

I would also argue that "connard" is a better translation (I don't remember kids using "trou du cul" literally like that), but I have to imagine most states are smart enough to put "connard" on their list of banned words...

No plate looks very good. The aero does not matter. The law and regulation does. Its very simple all of this. You put a plate on and drive and enjoy the car.

Luckily, Pennsylvania has never required a front plate.
But many years ago, state inspection used to be twice a year.
A former Acura came with factory screw holes in the front bumper with color-coded plugs.

Screw the plate.

And double screw the car wash.

It's a $70 fine here in MD for no front tag but it wasn't the fine that finally got me to put the front tag back (on my Miata) after several years of having it off - it was the near-constant harassment from the plethora of cops on the roads around here - I got pulled over & BS'd my way out of a ticket twice before getting hit with the fine on the third and final encounter. In addition, once or twice I managed to 'disappear' when I saw a cop pull out after clearly noticing my missing front tag.

No doubt the level of enforcement varies by location, but in the Police State of MD, they're really into enforcing it. As a result, my M2 only went a couple days without the front tag until my Carbonio bracket arrived.

At least you can rest easy you did not permanently destroy the look of the front bumper!

I would tell you all to move to Alberta, Canada since we don't have front license plates here......but I would than have to explain that I only drive my car for 6 months out of the year due to the snow and extreme cold temperatures. I would gladly give up 2 little holes for the chance to drive my car all year around. I am not even at 2 months of not driving my car and I am going through withdrawal already.

I’m in CO and will not be running a front plate, for most of the reasons already mentioned.

I asked my dealer rep not to drill holes and he said “we never attach front plates to our M cars” ... and driving around Denver, there are plenty of cars getting around with no front plates (mostly euros, but the odd pickup and SUV too).

Apparently meter maids downtown will ticket when parked on the street but I’m going from home garage to work garage... and as for the potential traffic stop by a cop, well, I’m willing to take that risk for a while at least.
