Follow my XPEL process on a 2018 LCI LBB M2

Hey All,

Below you'll find posts detailing my process in getting my LBB LCI wrapped in XPEL. I will also be getting ceramic coating on the wrap, wheels, and interior. In addition I will be getting XPEL prime tint with 20% all around except for front windshield which will be 50%.

All services provided by Nick @ Premier Auto Armor in Corona, CA

If money is not an issue, stealth full XPEL pro is the go. And ceramic coat on the top.

If you're going to keep the car for a long time go with stealth. When you take it off you get a brand new looking car!

If you're keeping it for a short time get clear. LBB looks special as it comes from the factory.

My car will be here soon and I have been struggling with this same decision myself. I wish I could see an LBB stealth wrapped in person as I think this would make the decision much easier.

This is just my opinion, so take it for what it's worth...

From the pictures I have seen the stealth wrap looks better if you have some offsetting CF or gloss black pieces on the car as well (splitter, rear deck spoiler, diffusor, gills, grills, etc). I think this would also lend itself better to getting the CF roof from RPK. Without these CF/Black contrasts, I like the clear wrap that shows the metallic finish of the original paint.

I'm sure I haven't helped your decision in the least, but good luck and post pics!!

What's the correlation between ownership plans and finish choice? This is a decision we have to make as well - is the stealth PPF a higher-quality than the clear? I was under the impression that both full-body wraps in clear and satin could be considered for long-term ownership, and that the finish was just a matter of taste preference.

Here are some LBB XPEL STEALTH pictures that may help the decision. We vote STEALTH but are happy the paint is protected either way.

Oh my logic was just that if one was to keep the car for a long period of time then you would get to experience the frozen stealth look, and then when the PPF comes off or is later replaced years later you get the OEM shiny gloss look. So you get to experience both looks.

However if you only keep the car 3 years and you stealth wrap it you wouldn't get to experience ownership of the OEM non frozen paint look, which I think is too bad because the LBB looks so damn good right from the factory.

As far as quality of PPF and protection, I couldn't say. I think it's easier to maintain the regular PPF, because usually you can't polish a matte look without destroying the matte finish. I don't know if this applies to Xpel Stealth though, so def do research on if you can polish it or not if there is a blemish.

So clear up the question -- XPEL STEALTH is extremely easy to clean. You can even run it through an automatic car wash should you choose. There are even ceramic coatings out there designed for the satin look that will help protect it. That said, the STEALTH film is already extremely durable and stain resistant so no worries on maintenance.

Was a dead heat so I went with Stealth.

Dropped it off with Nick at Premier auto armour in Corona, CA. Also am getting ceramic Pro on the exterior ( on top of wrap), interior, and wheels etc).

Also doing the XPEL tint with 20% all around except the front which will be 50%.

Cant wait! Will post updates as it progresses!

I hope it's ok to post in this thread - I've got an LCI in BSM arriving in the next week or two, was wondering if people had any opinions on wrap for this colour also?

Are there any threads or posts of BSM with XPEL anyone is aware of?

Many thanks!

I know this isn't a general XPEL thread, but thought I'd comment since I've got regular Ultimate on the front end of my car.

I initially tried Suntek - self installed the full hood on my wife's car, and thought, based on all of the comments from people who've had Suntek put on their car, that it was smoother and glossier.

I ended up going XPEL on my M2 because I wanted the bumper custom cut and installed professionally, and the installer I chose used XPEL. I ended up self installing the full hood, full fenders, mirrors, headlights and rocker panels myself, and I couldn't be happier. The 'orange peel' matches the M2 paint perfectly. I don't know if this is because the XPEL is just showing the underlying paint texture through or not, but it looks very good. Suntek, by comparison, and on my wife's car so it's not quite apples to apples, has less orange peel, but more of an artificial texture that doesn't really look like paint at all. Sure, it's smoother, but doesn't look quite right to my eyes.

I'd heard that XPEL was harder to install than Suntek, and more prone to stretch marks and hazing. I didn't have this experience at all, and the only issues I found were due to my lack of experience - I got one or two bits of dust under the film!

Seeing as there are only 4 color choices, the Stealth makes a world of difference and really sets the car apart. This is especially true with the LBB and MG.

Now, dropping $6K on a full stealth wrap is the real question.

good choice with the stealth

Glad you went with the Xpel stealth. I was on the fence originally until I saw a picture of it done and at that moment I was fully committed. Are you planning on picking up the delete kits for the front and rear reflectors? As well are you going with the black grills all around? I am still searching for a suitable replacement for the factor BMW logos for the front and back. Trying to remove all chrome from exterior. Attached a picture after I had the rear tail lights tinted.

I did get deletes for the front reflectors from IND. I'm actually ok with the ones in the rear. Unfortunately there have been some issues with the xpel stealth film my installer was using so they are working with XPEL to get a good roll. Project has been pushed out a week but glad the Nick at Premier Auto is on top of it...

Waiting does suck tho

Bad news. Due to defects found in 4 rolls of xpel stealth my car is unable to continue stealth wrap. Nick is working with xpel to figure out what's going on but it seems that this might be a huge issue in the near term and may force me to go with clear. Really sucks as it seems the stealth was looking great on the panels that did not have issue. See for pics of the complete good bits as well as the stealth issue on the hood....

Just ordered my M2 in grey, and my salesman wanted to show me a photo of another customer who had his grey M2 finished with matt wrap. Hope it's alright to share this photo on this thread, as it is related.

Can't wait to get my M2! The M2 is a beast!
