Presumably you can code out TPMS but I believe this requires a computer and ESYS (Bimmercode can't do it, at least not yet).

Apex's pricing on TPMS was rather high, although if those are actually OE BMW parts maybe it isn't too bad. I just ordered my winter setup from TireRack and they charged $55/wheel for TPMS.

Also worth noting, the TPMS tell you tire temperature (not just pressure) for each individual wheel. Nice for track days, although I don't know how much it really matters for winter.
After receiving my tires w/o TPMS, I can say all modes work (Comfort, Sport. Sport Plus). Only difference was a small circle on dash cluster indicating they are not registering. No chimes .

I can confirm this.. One of my TPMS wasnt working, and all I got was a failure to be able to set the tire pressure in Idrive, and received a TPMS fault light msg when the car started. Beyond that, what persisted was that little orange circle telling me of this.. Everything else worked fine. After I replaced the sensor, the light and warning msg disappeared. The drive modes worked throughout.

Some of you have been searching the forums for winter wheels/tires and coming across this old thread. We’ve been getting questions about it so we’re posting an update here and have updated the link to the new group buy.

Our annual winter wheel and tire bundle is available again but it’s hosted on a different platform this year. You can find this years bundle available at:

quick question for people who purchased this set up, do you find the 245s to be too wide in the snow?

I loved the pkg I bought last year.. I didnt find them too wide. I also equpped them with the Michelin Pilot Alpins which are dubbed winter performance tires. I dont drive much in the snow so it worked fine for me. If you were in the snow belt and had occasion to frequently drive in 6" or more type snow, I might choose either the more dedicated winter tires, and/or a 235 width tire.
