Hi everyone. For those that expressed interest, we'll need 30 members to receive a $200 discount and free shipping. Tires will come already mounted and balanced.

I recommend getting a stud kit. The studs are more durable than the stock lugs. Plus, since they're longer, the wheels are easier to change. It also looks cool.

There's another group buy listed that offers that.

Thanks for that. I was hoping for a set of 18 inch EC-7 wheels for track use, but they only have that size in the winter wheels group buy

I'm in. Ive got PowerStop Z23 pads, and the vibration damping 'ears' on those are larger than stock.. Which ET face shape, ie the ET31 or the ET35 would allow me the best chance to avoid those ears rubbing on the inside surface?

I think they'd recommend the 31 but if you message them, they'll check with their fitment guy to confirm.

Yea, they were real helpful. They said they didnt think my Powerstop pads would be a problem, but I just finished messaging a forum member here who had an issue with the front pads rubbing on a Tire Rack 18x8 wheel.. Does that mean all 18" wheels will rub? Doesnt shape and ET and width size have something to do with it also? Here is the pad comparo in attached pic.. Top pads are the OE Brembos; bottom pads are the ones I have.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the vast majority of 18" rims won't clear the brakes from the spokes. I don't know how much the offset will affect that. But that's why you have to double check. Most manufacturers are knowledgeable enough to be able to tell you whether their wheel will clear.

Well, the lower the offset, the more to the outside the wheel will move. And the more outside the wheel moves, the more clearance the spokes will have from the brakes.. Our stock wheels are front: ET 29 and Rear ET 40. So if we take the ET 31 pkg, we'll be more at risk on the fronts, however, only 2mm more at risk.. I think wed be ok. Unless I totally screwed up the analysis.

Anyone have any experience between the Perfomance and Dedicated winter tires? I am in Northeast and we get plenty of snow. Have used X-Ice before and they are very good. Would consider Performance if they were 90% as good in snow.

I wouldn't risk it given your winter nor'easter history. You'll be kicking yourself the one time you get stuck because you opted for better performance in light snow driving. Go with the X Ice.

I'm going with blizzaks. I wouldn't go with a performance winter tire in the northeast. It can be treacherous enough with a studless ice/snow tire.

Im in Ct and have only used Performance winter tires for the last decade. I dont have to go through deep snow though.. If you really need to drive on 4"+ unplowed snow conditions, Id forego those and go with the more purpose built dedicated snows.

I agree with others about winter performance tires. They don’t have enough traction on slippery snow surface. Getting out of snowed in parking spaces would also present a challenge. Unless you have a backup winter car, I would go with full winter tires

It depends on your driving habits, work, etc. I'd say. I've used performance winters for the past 10 years, but I don't drive when it is truly dangerous or when it's deeper than a few inches.

You may go a month or so without significant snowfall in the northeast and so most of your driving is going to favor the performance winter. I'd rather not trade the wet and dry performance that is more important most of the time.
