Question Ohlins R&T (Lowered) and tire wheel setup

Hey guys,

I was thinking if my questions should go Wheel/Tire Thread or Suspension, but decided to come post here as I think it would be easier to find answer here.

I am currently shopping for Ohlins R&T and wish to get wheels and tire setup along with that coilover purchase.

Planning to have the spring rates lowered 15% to 80N/mm front and 160N/mm rear. And looking to buy Gold 763M wheels once gets released NA (which is exact same wheel spec as 437M). However wish to go 265/35/19 and 285/35/19 (or 255/35/19 and 275/35/19).

For those of who have Ohlins already and running with different tire sizes front and rear than the stock, would the setup run without having camber plate?? I am fine to go little higher than my plan if that solves the issue of rubbing.

And what is the largest size F/R with stock suspension + stock wheels without having negative camber?? (Sorry of my ignorance if this was covered already)

Thanks!

Might not be much help yet...but I am waiting for this RIDICULOUS winter to end so I can get my R&T installed - been sitting in the box in my basement for two months now!
I went with Vorsteiner 107's with 255 in front and 285 in rear. FWIW...The installer tells me I should be fine an no camber plates should be necessary. I guess it remains to be seen...

I went to ask for quote on S2 package of Dinan to Budds BMW yesterday and I was quoted with different goodies that I wish to go with.

Dinan coilover recommends;
Up to 1" of lowering in front and 1 1/2" of lowering in back are possible depending on tire clearance although 3/4" drop in front and a 1/2" drop in the rear is recommended to maintain a civilized ride.

Dinan Wheel and Tire package comes with Tire sizes 265/35/19F 285/35/19R. Wheels are 19X9.5F 19X10.5R and they do not have offset info on the website.

With lowering 1'' front, 1 1/2'' rear, Dinan do not install camber plates.
They said MPS4S and SS and Pirelli P Zero Corsa do all fit just find with tire sizes mentioned above.

Although spring diameter between Dinan Coilover and Ohlins R&T will differ, thinking that they all will fit with 265/35/19F 285/35/19R if lowered by the same inches front and back.

I am also waiting for this bad winter to be over.... I did not order the coilover yet since I am still debating between Dinan and Ohlins...

Did you get your Ohlins installed? I'm reading that some have zero drop from stock? Can that be right?

No not yet. Currently looking to have it all installed 31st Sat of this Month.

Ohlins says if u go with their recommended preload and spring rate front and rear, that should give abt 10 mm drop from stock. I am going as Ohlins recommendation 90N/mm and 190N/mm front and rear for my setup. Believe u can also adjust height alone by dial of height adjustment feature. Easily seen from manual

Going with same spec. Mine are being installed tomorrow, along with my new wheels and tires. Also getting alignment and corner balancing done. The shop I'm using does a lot of Ohlins installs and runs them (custom set up) on their track cars. They said they are the only brand they would use. I didn't buy the coilovers from them so I suppose they had no reason to "talk them up". The shop I bought the coilovers from is apparently doing a promo video shoot of the install for their social media so I hope to get a copy.

I bought them from JRP in Mississauga. Getting installed at Burning Rubber in Oakville on recco from JRP. I took before photos with a tape measure (cms and inches) and I will do same after and post the results. I'm expecting the drop to be about 1 cm, they told me it won't be a drastic drop.

I wish that I can lower as 1 inch as well.
But just worried about my front splitter... that could be easily damaged anytime if dropped to an inch.

Will try 10 mm as Ohlins recommendation haha and will see what happens after.

So got the Ohlins and my new wheels/tires installed Friday and drove around for a bit on them yesterday - only for my buddy to notice that the tires that were mounted were all seasons and not summer tires as I had requested - WTF?!?...I just didn't notice when I picked the car up as they were Michelin's. I'll have to get those swapped...I digress.

Anyway, I measured the ride height before and after and the car has been lowered about 14mm (I won't bother with inches as this is the Canadian forum). in the front and 20mm in the rear. Is it slammed/dumped? No it's not, but I don't care for that look anyway...and it's a great way to demo your $2,000 CF front splitter. Is the stance perfect FOR ME...not exactly...I'm hoping the car settles another 3-5mm as that would be perfect.

The M2 fitment for the Vorsteiner vff-107 is spot on. Those guys did a great job there. No spacers needed. Also no camber plates (for now).

From the limited driving I did, the suspension is...in a word...F'N awesome! Ok, that was two words. It is still firm, but the "chatter" that I felt with the stock suspension is gone. It is on the softest setting for daily driving and the spring rates are the Ohlins recommended. The installers at Burning Rubber in Oakville, did a great job and even did a corner balance and alignment. I can feel the difference as this new setup seems to "suck up" the bumps much better than stock. I haven't been able to push corners (also don't want to ruin the tires that I have to take back), so I can't comment there yet.

Congratz!!
Getting mine done next Sat. Right after Good Friday. And the heights that u mentioned is basically what i hoped for. As i also have front splitter which will not be much prone to damage as ur Vorsteiner but dont want to spend another 1300.
Yes, VFF107 is absolute killer. I personally believe they are the best looking flow form that Vorsteiner offers. It was on my list as well but decided to go with different choice, but sweet Jesus, they look incredible!!

Will be posting my result as soon as i get around and will be sharing with u guys as well.

I am planning to get my corner balance right before track day with my Apex wheels and Toyos on them. Will be getting alignment but figure it is better to get the corner balance with the actual wheels and tires that i will be using in those sessions.

Well looking forward to see ur vehicle at some point. And wish i will not regret the fact that i did not go with VFF107... LoL

Yes u can get different spring rates depending on ur preference.

I was told that the Ohlins recommendation on their coilover springs (90/190) is actually stiffer than stock but i have seen ppl going like 60/130 and so on and was told that it will become softer than the stock. And of course then there u can adjust the damping with simple click mechanism.
