M2 and M4 both indeed feature the 'Artificial Suckers Device'.

For a Turbo car, the M2 sounds good. It'll never howl like an S65, sadly those days are gone.

Early Sunday mornings drives can be fun in cities. I've had fun in Portland at 5am on a Sunday. Nice tour of London there, better than my double decker tour way back.

But at least it is no big deal to disable it...

Thanks for posting the Paris video. It shows again: These days the cars lack on personality. There is nothing going over NA engines, fake burples and crackels never come close to that...

Benz 450SEL 6.9 but with his 275GTB sound over it, so a tad artificial as well
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C'%C3%...un_rendez-vous

So you see the speed of a big fat 6.9 V8 limousine and hear a V12....

He was driving a Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9. Don't be fooled, the soundtrack was dubbed with that of a Ferrari 275GTB. Film was releasedin 1976.

Can you define what you consider personality? I mean, the guy put a sonorous V12 engine sound over the footage of a tank. If it was dubbed with an L539, AM28, Murcie V12, M120 it would sound equally as amazing if not more so (those Lambos man!). If you're expecting "normal" cars to compete with the sound of a Ferrari V12 you're always going to be disappointed.

Edit: got in late thanks to DB issues. :-(

Correct. In a 2006 video the producer explained that he used his Merc for getting smooth images and dubbed the sound to give it a petrolhead twist. We're talking 1976, decades before our GoPro era.
"Q: So why a Mercedes instead of a sports car that might have been better for this kind of thing ?
A: Only because of its suspension. It had hydro-pneumatic suspension. It was absolutely necessary for the image to be smooth.
Q: How did you do the sound ?
A: I did the trip again with a Ferrari to change the sound because I want people who love to drive to feel the power of the engine and gear shifts."

Take for example the mythical Ferrari 250 GTO: more than half a century 'old', but the 'vintage' sound never tires.

I did not know what car it was. I just thought for myself that this sounds great. I never get that feeling with current cars, even supercars these days did not sound like this.

But Artemis got exactly what I mean, the GTO video is the perfect example.

Low end grunt is as sexy as any car can be. However, nothing special when needle passes 3500~4000.

Even M2 needs aftermarket solution.

That sounds like nostalgia.

Sounds better than my F80 with MPE. Would love to go with an M2 at lease end, but my 2015 F80 is actually a better deal to buy off of lease than leasing a new M2. M2 is probably fun around town, but the F80 is just way more car for not much higher of a lease payment. Shame BMW did not offer the M3 seats and full leather option for those who want to elevate the car luxury-wise.

As much as I love turbo torque, this is the sort of thing that reminds me that IMO naturally aspirated is king when it comes to the whole experience. Yes I know the sound is dubbed, but it is still the real noise of an NA motor.

Definitely. That raw visceral sound that sends shivers down the spine, adrenalin through the veins, aural pleasure to the ears and a smile to the face.

It's stock. They all sound like that from outside the car anyway. Mic was obviously placed outside of the car.

The best of all was the artificial engine sound recorded on the inside of the car.
The M2 is sweet, but he is only looking for "give me thumbs up on my channel" with a boring video.
He should go to a race track and do a video !
Not every video featuring an M2 is a good one !
Are you serious? One of the worst posts I've ever seen .

Clicking in a thread that says M2 on the streets of London in 2-3 seconds then posting the video would have been better on a track for 2 seconds.
The best of all was the ranting about ASD when the mic is on the outside of the car the entire video ....

What the M2's ASD sounds like in comparison (w/ mic *inside* the car). Skip to 3:10 on this video to hear the cabin's artificial drone:

As an N55 owner (the engine of the M2), it could sound better--immensely better if I'm being honest. The stock M2 exhaust isn't really doing it justice.
