Note that Europe operates on calendar years (most recent example: G30 5 series is listed as "5er (2016)" on bmw.de), and therefore a lot of news articles originating in Europe also use calendar years when talking about future cars. US readers need to pay attention to this and adjust +1 where necessary.
Thanks so much for the clarification. I was specifically referring to model years in my question but it's great to know that Europe is based on calendar year so that gives us a better picture of what 2018 actually means when we see a press release.

What's the weight difference between an N55 and S55. I know there are other engine related parts that could be different based on this engine change. I am trying to figure out how much heavier the S55 equipped car would be compared to the regular M2 considering all other parts not related to the engine remain the same.

I sure as hell wouldn't pay 75k for an M2. This is almost like the MB philosophy. I had a c63 but if I could get the E63 for the same price then that is what I would have gotten.

I'm going for the bird in the hand. Who knows when the CS will be available, at what price and with what options. If it is a super car it will only enhance the reputation of the base model. This is a win for everyone.

The 15k might be S55 engine alone. Then account for the suspension upgrades, splitter, wing/spoiler, M seats, etc. We could be talking upwards of say $72k.

Not sure the S engine is $15k over the value of the N engine that it replaces.... you would need to take that into consideration.

72k buys a lot of horsepower these days. It will be very tough choice...
Supra might even be out by then and z5...

I believe reading on this forum that the difference in price between the N55 and S55 was more like 6K if you had to order. The difference for BMW would be even smaller.

The other parts won't necessarily add too much to the price if they are substitutions rather than additions. Similarly, deletions of the i-drive, sound deadening materials should reduce the price.

Additions of the the wing, splitter etc. could increase the price but that depends on how hardcore BMW wants to make this car.

Does anyone want to have a guess at how much that'll cost in AUD?

Is there still a chance that the M2 LCI may get a tuned B58 or is that rumor all but dead?

I can almost guarantee you will take a bigger hit on your, "Sakhir '17 M3 ZCP" when it comes time to sell vs what you would have on the M2.

Are you able to confirm from your info that the MY18 M2 will definitely still have the N55 engine?

Is it just me or would a lot of us be happy with keeping the M2 as it is but giving us more exterior color options? (Maybe even BMW Individual colors- we have to wait 9 months anyway so whats the big problem there?) and the upgraded 5.0 Idrive system ( it will suck too but less)

Perfectly happy with the M2 I will order next month. This will probably be VERY limited production and if you're pissed about 5-10k markups on the M2, well wait until this little beast hits the market....

Maybe now some people will forego buying the 2017 M2 they had on order, Southern California dealerships will stop demanding markups on them, and I can get one!
