Those that have done the update, are you using E-sys with ENET cable, or ICOM with ISTA/P?
I am getting conflicting information on the suitability of the ENET cable method of flashing ECU's, some say its a bad idea due to the amount of data being moved during the update and that the chip in the ENET cable is not fast enough. But looking at some ENET diy's, there is no chip and its basically a straight through ethernet connection to the OBD port. I am almost ready to click the start button in E-Sys, but this new information is bothering me. Heres where I am at.

Had the latest version installed. Firmly in the camp that say this is more than placebo. Totally unscientific - and only based on about 50 miles of driving so far - but notice a couple things (I have a DCT).
Mainly, shift kick downs have absolutely less "bucking bronco" effect, especially when coming to a stop light after hard acceleration. Normal gear changes when accelerating are less jolting as well. I've done adaption resets in the past and this seems like it's more. I don't think we'll get anyone that does an apple to apples comparison of before vs. after dynos, but the Italian fellow who said the PSI values changed at the start of this thread might be on to something ... I want to believe! Edit: And forgot to mention the steering feel changed as well. It feels like some dampening was removed, is tighter, and might be a tad lighter or more sensitive. |

You need a solid power supply. ENET is fine. I did a FULL update using ENET on the M2 the very first time, went through 100%. I'd suggest skipping idRestore / idBackup. Sometimes it fails and throws error ~ might not complete fully. I haven't flashed with the new ESYS yet, looks like they prevent checking the options that you don't need which is nice Make sure you're connecting via GW and not VIN if you want to flash ZGW

I tried to get my dealer to perform the upgrade this week, siting issues with my iPhone and Bluetooth connectivity problems. As they couldn't replicate the faults with the phone connectivity they wouldn't consider updating the vehicle firmware - Grrrrr...... Did they do this for free or did you have to pay for it and if so how much? My car is March 2017 and I'm on: NBTevo_J16338I |

lol. This DME runs in closed-loop pretty much 100% of the time. It's only open-loop in limpmode / safety mode, and small hybrid fueling ( not really open loop, not really closed loop ) during overrun and spool.
