This probably explains why I have had a tough time tracking down some pss's for the last month or so. No production eta is all I have heard in the front size. Ended up finding a pair end of last week. Looking forward to mounting them up tomorrow and finally saying good bye to the p zeros. It's been two years and long enough. Had pss on the e90 and loved em.

Its pretty funny they only compared those to crappy tires. Where is the comparo to:

Bridgestone RE71R
Dunlop Z2 star spec
Bridgestone RE 11
Hankook RS3

They put 'em up against "Max Performance" summer tires, which they are.
Your 4 choices, while admirable and better on the track are "Extreme Performance" - not in the same class.

Would be cool to see how it holds up against 'em, though.

Are you kidding me? I'm always talking about tires at home. My wife mentioned that we currently have 34 tires in the basement plus another 8 in the garage. I cannot get enough tires -- Street tires, track tires, winter tires, etc.
Damn, I thought I had a lot at 16 extra tires.

I agree the soft sidewalls are an issue for the MPSS when used on track. While the feel, handling and precision is excellent on the track, the sidewalls roll over and melt away in short order. See below...
I think you need more front camber. My MPSS look perfect after a couple track days.
Not for nothing - I don't have the tire melting issue with my track setup on square 17" wheels with Hankook RS3's.

Why would they? That would cannibalizes the sales of the MPSS. These will be sold along side them. The MPSS is still a good tire. The new one will just be that. New.
You can still show how your various products compare to each other for consumers to make an informed decision. And for cases where only one tire is available in the desired size, there's no cannibalization.

These are in a different (higher) performance category. Hence, not a comparison. These are better on the track (or, at least, they should be) but not as friendly for daily use.

I guarantee you wouldn't feel the difference between the MPSS and the new tire for normal street use. I'm sure it will be incrementally different but it won't be night and day or meaningfully enough different to feel badly you just got MPSS

Got MPSS installed today.
Don't feel badly at all! Haven't had a chance to push 'em yet, but compared to the RFT's, I LOVE them.

Still, a coparo between PSS and PS4S would be nice. Guess we'll have to wait for Tire Rack and the auto rags to get around to it.

we already can guess the answer can't we... just like if a middleweight fighter were going to fight someone at the light heavyweight level....
I guess one could also compare the MPSS vs the Pilot Sport Cup and other such R tires... " for fun"... but why..

The current tire (the PSS) is far from a race tire The PSS and its PS4 replacement are both street tires.

I think your recollection l is about correct re: PS2 to SS. THE SS was really a nice improvement IMO. THE PS4 reminds me of how Michelin brand cycling tires if you follow the sport. I didn't really think 4 season tires. Besides, they're French!
