Heres another one for you... With all the rain we've had in Los Angeles lately I'm finding that the edges of my brake disks as well as the holes are rusting. Since the pads don't contact those area's they're not getting scrubbed clean. That said, what do you recommend to remove the rust? I was thinking to get in there with some sand paper or steel wool but maybe there's an easier way?

Hey there, first of all thank you so much for answering all of our questions! you already helped a lot here.

I will take delivery of my car in Germany in the beginning of april, about one week after beeing finished at the factory. I plan to do full Suntek PPF right after taking delivery but now read several times about the paint needing to dry out completely. Does this mean i should wait for some more weeks before getting my PPF attached? What could happen if not?

Thank you so much for helping here

If car is brand new straight from factory then no need to wait. Here is a FAQ from a premier PPF shop in Vegas.

What should I consider when installing film on repainted surfaces?
Repainted surfaces can be a touchy subject as it is not as durable as the factory finish. Factory finishes are baked onto the surface at 350+ degrees which allows a much harder surface and better cohesion bond. Repainted surfaces can be baked only at 150 degrees to prevent damage to the vehicles components and therefore the surface can be more susceptible to lifting, however, if it is a quality job then the burden of concern should not be so much.

Tried to search for this answer but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

My car is LBB, just had full front PPF completed. I have a couple questions.

I like to wash my car weekly, is there anything you could recommend for quick drying of the car? I'm interested in something that could possibly whisk the water away, rather than running a cloth or something across the surface.

Also in terms of the PPF, when it comes time to wax the car, I like using my porter cable and mequire's 105/205 depending on how many swirls I'm trying to remove. When it comes to the PPF surface, what should I use on that? I'm assuming I shouldn't use the buffer on it?

Sure thing for drying the car you can use

Metro Air Force Blaster 4 hp or
Metro Air Force Blaster 8 hp

on the clear film you really shouldn't need to polish it until it gets older if that.

I would recommend these products.

Kenotek Showroom Shine to maintain (after each wash) it and to remove bird crap
Sonax Polymer Net Shield

got any photos?
a great wheel cleaner and the proper wheel brushes should be able to do the job.

Nanolex Wheel Cleaner and Iron Remover

Wheel Woolies
EZ Detail Brush
Wheel Woolies Wheel Brush

if that doesn't work you may need to clay and polish them out.

If/when you next detail the engine on your M2 I'd love to see a photo series or similar of your process. I've always been a bit intimidated about cleaning under the hood.

What's the benefits over using a metro blaster 4 or 8 hp vs a regular electric leaf blower? My $30.00 leaf blower seems to do the trick. Need reasons to shell out that much cash

You could, care would need to be taken to mask off the areas.

Do you have any distributors in Canada? If not, how is the cross-border shipping? Does it get held up at the border?

I am trying to find Gyeon products in Canada but cannot find any retailers or shippers.

Any words of advice on getting a very small dent repaired prior to getting Xpel installed? A paintless dent repair technician has advised it should be an easy job, but I'm just interested in how long it would be advised for the repair to cure before getting the xpel installed - and whether any time at all is needed, given its paintless dent repair.

Charlie,

Morning what area are you getting repaired, if there is no paint work then you can install the film there should be no problems. If there is paint work ask the person doing the work how long you should wait.

we have seen items going to Canada get held up as well as duties incurred on the package, there is nothing we can do about this. As for distributors or retailers I'm not aware of it.

How about caring for the black plastic exterior trim, primarily the mirror housing? My 135i was prone to scratches and swirling on the black exterior plastics and shadow line trim. Any care recommendations? Anything to clean up the scratches/swirling on the plastics and shadow line trim?

Thanks

Thanks for the tips! Just a very small area on the hood. The repairer was able to fix the problem in about 20 minutes and the finish is perfect again. PPF coming today.

Thanks again!
