Whew!

Well, I have been reading through this MY2018 M2 LCI N55/S55/B58 etc. discussion. I too am interested in this topic. I will be anxious to hear what BMW will in fact do regarding the question to increase hp/torque for the LCI M2 or not. I am on list and could get a 2017 or wait for a 2018. Sure wish they would announce soon what their intentions are.

I was reluctant to add further to this discussion, but here goes...
I'd say if you can get your hands on an M2, buy and enjoy it instead of waiting for the 'next big thing'.
Although the B58 is technically improved (as each new generation is), the existing M2's chassis/engine combination is so good, why wait?
Or you can hem and haw waiting for it to eventually (2018/2019/2020?) come out while the rest of us enjoy our rides.
When you finally get that car, will you be pissed when you read BMW has already developed a replacement for the B58?
BMW Makes N55 Engine New Again

For those who thought BMW’s excellent N55 turbo inline-6 was headed for retirement, a test drive in the M2, with a 365-hp modified N55 under the hood, shows this engine can run with the best.
Eventually, the new B58 may replace the N55 in much of the lineup, but Bavarian management is not ready to send this workhorse to pasture.

Man these closed/open deck arguments are really messing up this thread for people looking to the actual answer to this question. Mods; why not split the posts out of this ridiculous discussion to a separate thread?

What I'd like to know is if there is a source on N55 confirmed motor for 2018MY?

Yes,ynguldyn confirmed in the M2 CS thread that the MY18 M2 will still have the N55 engine.

This doesn't seem like a very good business strategy with competitors offering significantly more power and torque and the same price point. Wonder if it's really as simple as that for 2018.

M2s remain in high demand regardless of the current power numbers.
