I'm trying to get a few quotes for clear bra and I'm aware of the fact that prices might vary significantly depending on the location. Some quotes I received in Bay Area seem high so just want to know how much everyone is paying or has paid. I don't mind paying a premium for a quality service but at the same time I don't want to get ripped off. I would appreciate if everyone follows the format:
P.S. You might have gotten a special deal thru a referral etc. and not feel comfortable sharing the contact details of your installer. Providing installer details is totally optional! Price: $1800 Coverage: Full front (headlights, hood, bumper, fenders, mirror caps) Location: Bay Area Installer (optional): undisclosed Film brand: Suntek Ultra |

My experience is with 3 very good installers in the ATL area and 1 in NY; all of whom are all top notch. I have two quotes for my M2C (assuming the parameters provided), one for $1,500 and one for $1,600. I would strongly consider an extended rocker panel kit. I was quoted $500 which includes removing the OEM quarter film. Edit: $2,100 includes all the aforementioned as well as 'A' pillar with partial roof.

Man this is expensive. Add that plus a set of winter wheels and winter tires for those of us who need them and boy does the price of switching cars add up.

I had Xpel in the past and I didn’t like the finish of it, had a orange peel textured look. Therefore I switched to Suntek Ultra, it had a more glossy smooth finish. Is the new Xpel Ultimate Plus finish now comparable to Suntek Ultra?

The installer offered both Suntek Ultra and Xpel Ult. + but we didn't see the products side by side. I can say that I find it near impossible (you have to feel for the edge) to see it on the car and I don't notice any texture whatsoever.
On the CF mirror (drivers side only) we do notice that 1/4 appears to have a cloudy appearance. It's been raining/humid here for weeks and the vehicle has been garaged since we got it back from the installer. We're hoping that it just needs to dry out in the sun (whenever the sun decides to show itself). |

I know there is banter about the thickness of Suntek being equal to Xpel. Many will cite any differences is thickness is due to measurements being taken with or without the adhesive. Whether Suntek is truly as thick as Xpel, doesn't really matter to me as I feel it is not as robust. I have seen and heard of people having breaks in the film from flying debris/stones in situations they apparently should not have had any issues. Granted this has only been observed or heard of occasionally. I have seen Xpel perform wonderfully. Placebo or not, I choose Xpel as any texture in the film is not apparent to me given the color of my cars. I am pretty picky as well. Hope this helps...
