Yea, not that it matters now, but what I meant was maybe the ordering system error was in the first few days after 3rd quarter allocations were released - no one really had a true LCI "order" until allocations came out in June. An "order" with no allocation is of course really nothing. My order was submitted June 20. I was just curious about the granular details of the system error, being an IT guy, but no surprise they had none on offer.

The order could have been accepted without the dealer having an allocation. Did your order sit awhile, waiting for an allocation? I will be the first to admit that 53 days from my approving the order to delivery was extremely good - even lucky. I did not have that kind of luck with the previous two GT 350s, so IMHO it was about time for me to have a positive delivery experience.
Plus, in your case, don't you have an extra 10-12 days for West Coast delivery? |

It was allocated- I had a production number that same week of April. BMW played ping-pong with my order though and then the MY18 flip thing happened. I've almost given up a few times and gone a different direction but screw it, Tuesday.

WTH? Did they offer an explanation for the "ping-pong"?

honestly, it would be a little weird to have a glossy black trim that don't match anything else. unless you decided to change all the chrome bits to gloss black. that'll be pretty cool. |

I have high-gloss black plastic trim in another car and hate it. The best it will ever look is when you pick up the car at the dealership; otherwise, it shows every scratch, scuff, fingerprint and particle of dust. When you clean it (even with the proper, expensive trim cleaner), you'll still get zillions of tiny scratches in the surface that really show up in the sunlight or under lights at night. The brushed silver doesn't do that; plus, it adds a little interest and color to an otherwise all-black interior.

You can still stream audio to the car via bluetooth, but there's no AA.

It's a matte silver color, matches the other metallic-looking trim pieces on the car.

Yikes - what a long ass dare I say worthless thread
Sorry, but Spa2K got lucky. In the early days of production, a lot of weird things happen - and yes, I agree with him, it was not an "accident" - they don't accidentally put stuff on cars. But/and - they might not have had enough of the standard lights and since he did not order the exec package, they could not hold up the car. But/and - the fact is, the car does not come with them standard without the exec package and anyone who changes their order and is "surprised" they got the standard lights, should not be upset. Because unless the parts shortage continues, you can be sure BMW will not be "throwing" those in for free in the near future. Spa2K, I think it would be beneficial if you changed the post title, because they are certainly not standard and someone seeing that and not reading through the thread (which I think is about interior trim now?) will make a big mistake on their order if their heart is set on those lights. My 2 cents...

Not sure the issue was a 'parts shortage' - according to BMW, it was an "ordering system error." Beyond that, I agree - he was lucky, it was no accident, and anyone else w/o the Exec Pkg should not be expecting Adaptive LEDs (unless their order explicitly shows it - of which we've seen several examples).

The heading on a thread can't be edited, but if it could, I would. The modus operandi of this and many other forums seems to be hijacking other peoples' threads and often injecting negative comments that aren't invited, necessary or appropriate. (Anything to get those post counts up!)
Now back to as close as I can get to the original post: What does the sensor/camera for the Automatic High Beams look like? |
