Water Spots :(

I am so pissed. My wife and I went to grab coffee and when we came out the sprinklers were going and dumping water on my hood. By the time I got home, 20 min later, the damage was done. I rinsed the surface used a detail spray, tried diluted water and vinegar, tried a swirl remover, ultimate compound. Nothing. I have never had this issue with my paint before on any other vehicle. That shit water etched my paint in 20 min? I should note I have sealed the paint and waxed it too prior to the damage.

I am going to try some chemical guys polish next. Any other ideas?

I have a hard time believing sprinkler water would do that to your paint. All the plants would be dead if it edged it's way through your sealed paint in such a short time.

Sorry not how I meant it. What I meant is that I think something other than the sprinkler caused the edging, I would guess that something went wrong during sealing or polishing.

I get it. Thanks for the clarification. I used jet seal and then some wax. That was 2 weeks ago. I might have used the wrong pad while polishing it out. I think I need a microfiber. I dont want to get too aggressive tho.

pics?

I have hard water here and I just bought the CR spotless deionizer setup to avoid water spots during washes. Not that it would matter in your situation with the rogue sprinklers...

I have the cr spotless system and it works great. Next time ceramic the car yourself for $60.00 and it maybe have helped avoid that

Your gonna need a dual action polisher to get the water spots off I would think since they didn't come off by hand

If the water spots have etched the clear coat like a bird bomb would, compounding by machine will remove some to all of the spots depending on the severity. That, unfortunately, means removing some clear coat, if you are not comfortable doing that best to hire a pro and consider coating the car at the same time. Best of luck.

It's not the water itself coming out of the sprinkler, but the added elements in fertilizer that can get into the heads of the sprinkler and then onto your vehicle, and there are minerals in there that can really wreck a paint job.

I would try to dissolve the minerals first. If you have protection down, dissolving the minerals with diluted vinegar or a dedicated water spot remover will do the least damage.

Polishing removes paint, so I would do it as a last resort from something so common as water spots.

Thanks for all the replies. I have tried vinegar and water. The water just beads over the top of the spots. I let sit for a few seconds the wipe. No change. Im going to get some Chemical Guys Water Spot Remover. Im hoping this will work. There must have been some bad shit in that water because the spots on the windshield were very white. Not like normal spots. The spots on the windshield came off easy with vinegar and water. That is why Im thinking it has ben etched.

I have the LBB with ceramic coating and it's very easy to retrieve water spots due to the hydrofobic surface. It means also thevthe surface dries up super fast. GYEON has a acid solution that is wiped on the surface that has spots. Did try to product and it works well. However I have polished mine out in addition since i am extremely picky. Used Rupes 21 with the white Rupes pad and GYEON primer. Everything removed.
In my area we have very soft water and I can just imagine how it would be with hard.
I agree with you, the paint is sensitive for water droplets especially if you have LBB.
