No. But I think Alcantara isn't as cold to the touch as leather so it may not be a big issue.

Sweet thanks man. Yeah I wonder what would need to be coded?
From the manual, even the LED display one doesn't need coding. It does need a wiring harness to be attached so the wheel can read the data for display

Exactly what I'm looking for. I like the feeling of alcantara but not the long term durability.

I suppose you could buy a M performance wheel and bring it to get reupholstered in just leather. Although that seems unnecessarily complicated.

The alcantara part of the MP Pro steering wheel is chunkier, meatier than the stock steering wheel, especially the part right above the thumbrests. Difficult to show on a picture, but undeniable when you hold both steering wheels in your hands.

Installed the performance wheel in my car with the polished carbon trim, looks outstanding.
To answer another question, the trim can be installed on a stock wheel. Simply remove the airbag and unscrew the three screws holding it in place. 2 screws are behind the airbag, the third is at the bottom on the backing plate.

I just ordered one from eBay tonight for $505.00 new on sale. They have one left although the price might be back up to $675.00.

I've been waiting for mine 2 months now, they wont ship. Check their reviews, they make fake tracking numbers and never ship the item. i opened a case with ebay. They will never respond. Keeps posting new items but wont deliver anything but nail polishes.

Time to fit mine and check local prices...

Any idea how long it took to install? A dealer must be able to do it in half an hour.

MR
dealer typically quotes around an hour based on replies in this thread. personally took 45 minutes for my first time on a bmw and i was taking a lot of photos along to document.

MR
They will probably charge an hour anyway. Not a difficult install, no real clips to remove and airbag comes out easily. The removal and reinstallation of the wiring harness is a bit tricky; I recommend taking pics before removing it.

Also, you'll get wild error messages immediately after installing, but these all go away after a short drive.

Does anyone have a photo of the flat-bottom M Performance wheel without the carbon piece? Thanks!

I used the non carbon on my 340xi install as I don't like carbon for the interior of this car. this is the v2 m performance wheel.

there are a lot more pics in the v2 thread tho.

Bruce, wondering if you can confirm the port install prices. Thanks!

No, because I didn't pay those prices for my MPerformance mods. I paid 20-30% off (inclusive of labor), and had them installed by the dealer. That was last fall though, and I don't remember the actual prices, but I do remember the discount percentages.

I didn't get that wheel, though. Decided that the alcantara was not a good bet for my hands over time...

looks great. I want one but I have grown to like the heated wheel feature on those cold mornings.

Maybe Colby can re-wrap my stock wheel and make it a little thicker, to look and feel like this M performance wheel and keep the heated function.
