That's exactly how I feel about the car. Everything blends perfectly together with the all black version. I hate the Z06 which is far too guady and overdone.

That is freaking badass! Congrats and best of luck with it.

Cool, within 14 pounds of what BMW listed. If Chevy's actual weight is as close, then the M2 manual weighs about 140 pounds more than a C7 Corvette.

In any case, the point was that gtaM2 called the C7 a "boat."

Not even sure why weight is in the discussion when talking about these 2 cars, 100 pounds is pretty negligible. It should be about looks, performance, build quality, fun factor.

I can't afford two cars so I went conservative and got a M235i and put snow tires on it, but I'm still not convinced that a competent driver, with a C7 and snow tires can't make it though the winter as a daily driver. If you end up going this route, please let me know how it goes.
Now that I've made it through the entire Boston winter with my C7 as my daily driver, I can say that I had zero problems. I put on a set of four Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4s, and I never had any problems driving on snow.

I didn't try to drive through any blizzards or really deep snow, but driving on a couple inches of snow or even on ice was not a problem.

Performance wise though, I don't see how the m2 will compete with the base c7. Performance for the price is crazy. Interior was pretty good for a Vette as well!

Also, not sure why you are considering an m2 and a corvette, but only a base Cayman. The Cayman S really isn't that much more, and gives you a bit more performance. It is actually my backup plan along with the f80 at the moment.

I have both a m235i and a c7 06. Love my BMW way better with 8 speed. feels like a DC trans and actually has more features. the only thing the c7 has is its obviously a bit faster and handles better since its on 335/20 racing tires which are just nuts

Uh... okay.

I sold my M235i, but still have my Z06/Z07.... And yes, it handles "a bit better"

Hopefully you didn't by the A8 Z06.

With it being difficult to get the M2 I want, I am seeing C7 GS's getting discounted pretty good and could get a 1LT at the price of a fully loaded M2 or 2LT around the price of a marked up M2. It is making me re think this whole thing. I am considering just keeping my 135is and adding to the stable.

A Grand Sport would be a nice addition. Honestly... I would probably keep the 135 and get one if I were in your shoes.

I personally don't daily my Z06/7 just because witht eh sport cup 2 tires I don't want to drive it when its cold and I don't like parking it places as it always attracts too much attention and isn't the most parking lot friendly (none of my Corvettes have been) with the longer doors. It is awesome as a second or third car, if you are like me and try to keep your cars nice and are OCD about it.

I replaced my m235i with a 2017 Camaro SS 1LE and really can't be happier. If you like the Camaro at all and are not stereotyping it on its history, this is a great option to compare against the M2/m235i. Costs less, more power, faster, still has a "back seat", will roast the BMWs around a track (all the M2 comparisons to the 1LE are the v6 Camaro, not the SS). The new Alpha platform Camaro has build quality that matches or exceeds my m235i and the Recaro's are great. Most complaints will be haters trashing the Camaro for the badge, the same as why most BMWs get the hate as well, so one camp or the other, same issues.

Sounds like you haven't driven one and are listening to the BS reviewers.

On the 6th gen, if you set your seat and mirrors correctly there is not problem seeing out of it.

I'm 6 foot tall and even with a helmet I have headroom and have no issues seeing out of it. Especially in the rear view where most people end up.

For grins i ordered the Whipple kit for the SS so in about 7 weeks I'll have a blown LT1 and an LT4.

Actually, I came to my opinion after test driving one last year.. There was a lot to like about the car.. But the limited visibility was something I just couldnt get over... Im not saying its not possible to compensate or find ways of adjusting to the lack of functional visibility in favor of its aggressive styling. But for me, it was a non starter.

So, I followed your advice and gave up on the M2 and got a 2LT C7. I am keeping the 135is too, so very happy about that. Now my main issue is trying to figure out what to drive each day. I was looking at a Grand Sport, but was really trying to keep the price under $60k out the door. I could have done that in 1LT GS trim, but my wife and I agreed we liked the creature comforts of the 2LT better. So we decided to go with a standard Stingray 2LT which was just over $58k incl tax tags and title. I made sure to go over everything with a torch light before I took possession and was very impressed and pleased with the build quality. I’ll post some photos tomorrow since I got the car after work and it was starting to get dark by the time I got out of the dealership.

I can see great. Those little rear windows actually do serve a purpose. Plus I have front and rear cameras for visual aids.

I started to notice this issue as well with the A/C not being as cool as I like with it being 95-100 the past week. What I discovered as I was personalizing all the settings was that the A/C fan speed was set to medium. I turned it up to high and that has fixed the problem. I am nice and cool now. I did make sure to get a 2LT package so I also have ventilated seats which also help. While the 1LT is an awesome deal, the 2LT provides a lot of options you actually want that doesn’t get bundled oddly with things you don’t in an attempt to make you go up another trim level for that one thing you want. 2LT comes with a very nice HUD, ventilated and heated seats, memory for two drivers which includes seats and preferences, front camera in addition to the rear which has already been a lifesaver when parking, auto dimming mirrors, and theft deterrent package.

I promised a photo:

I think I will eventually swap the lower grille for a Z06 style one and not sure on the chrome wheels. I am not really a chrome fan and was really looking for black or machined wheels, but they don’t look too bad and kind of go with the car.

Congrats!

I agree, my 2014 Z51 was a 2LT and my Z06 is a 2LZ for the same reasons.
