^ This difference is really clear in this particular shot. I'm with you - I wouldn't fit it either.

BTW, how do you actually fit it ... do you have to remove the stock spoiler..? And if so, do they provide any instructions on how you are supposed to do that..?
You of course have to take the stock spoiler off and it takes a lot of patience and can be difficult if you do not have the right equipment. It will come with a 3m automotive tape. But I suggest you get a a spray can of 3M adhesive remover (Amazon) and 3M adhesive promoter that comes in wipes or foam to make the automotive tape stronger.

There are plenty of DIY on youtube on installing a lip spoiler but this is basically what I did.

0. Apply the 3M automotive tape all underneath the sticking point of the new spoiler by wiping it first with the 3M adhesive promoter. And using an exact knife to form the tape on the corners.

1. Put painters tape on the trunk around the stock spoiler to protect surrounding finish while you take out the stock spoiler.

2. Use multiple strings of floss to take out the stock spoiler by moving left to right slowly.

3. When you get it off. On the trunk, spray a generous amount of Adhesive remover on the left over adhesives while slowly scrapping it off with a plastic scrapper. It will get very goooweeee and messy so have a system so the old adhesive don't get all over the place. I use a separate painters tape as a place for the adhesive I removed. Be patient so you don't scratched the original paint.

4. Ones its all clean, I used rubbing alcohol to clean the area just to make sure all residue from removing are all gone.

5. Position the spoiler where appropriate hopefully with another person and use Painters tape again to position. Make center marks on the tape if you need to. remember to measure twice and attach one time.

6. Take off about 2 to 3 inches of every ends of the tape under the new spoiler.

7. Apply 3M adhesive promoter on your trunk where your spoiler will go.

8. Position your spoiler. At this point you should have marks already so the spoiler is centered. Make sure all tape ends are out where you can reach it. Look under the spoiler as well to make sure its positioned correctly. When you have determined your spoiler is in the right position. Peel off the rest of it and apply equal pressure around the spoiler.

9. tape up the ends just for security for at least 4 hours.

Hope this helps!

Pulled the trigger for my MG.

Fingers crossed for a perfect colour match!

Fantastic - that's really helpful izzyM2. Appreciate the steps ... I'm still considering whether I go ahead with this or not. Until I read this thread, I wasn't really that keen on a spoiler, but these looks pretty good!

I've still got a bit of time to procrastinate ...

Mine arrived yesterday.

What was the fitment like for everyone? I think I'll end up with two small little gaps (hopefully filled with the tape) near where the spoiler indents from the outside.

Hi Aust350z,

How did you go with the fitting of the spoiler..? Was it relatively easy or did you have someone do the fitting for you..?

I'm kind of thinking that this is too much for me and that I'll get someone else to fit it ... so currently working out who that might be

I take it the colour of yours is fine..? I'm mindful of Transcon's experience (I have an LLB on order like him, but yours in MG, right?) and it'll probably cost a few hundred to have it sprayed in AU ... so I'm really tossing up on this

Be keen to hear how it went for you!

Cheers,

Finally getting to this.

@izzyM2 - where did you stick the tape on the underside so there was good contact but not an eyesore where he tape is visible? Particularly on this part where there is a deeper lip.

I didn?t want it to fly off so I basically placed 3M around the entire outline and also a line thru the middle from side to side. Triple digits and it?s still on there

Perfect. Thanks. Yeah I clipped this off to you as a test piece in various spots. I was planning to outline the whole thing - but the line through the middle is a top idea

Trick is to do it when the sun is blasting.

I let the car sit outside for a couple hours and let the trunk get hot. Wiped down a last time, placed spoiler on and then let it sit about two hours more under the sun with a couple items on it to pressure it down. Some people use painters tape, also works.

Thanks. We?re coming into good weather so I might get the chance to leave it in the sun. I picked up a roll of painters tape yesterday and have the old telephone books ready to go

^^^ I pretty much ran the tape all around the edges. Just make sure you line it up well. Did you get an adhesive promoter?

Just tried to order a LBB version, but they no longer offer this color and refunded my money. Might just get a carbon fiber one...

I bought the oem carbon one and had it painted/installed by a bodyshop. I had them beta link it down as well.

It may have cost me a little more time and money over some prepainted ebay spoiler I installed myself but I'm super happy with the results. No damage, no raised edges, no uneven installation, no visible adhesive and a perfect paint match. To me that's worth the extra $.

Looks great! Sun Motors is selling me the MP lip spoiler For a great deal, so I’m going to run it unpainted and see how I like it on the LBB... eventually I may get it painted.
