That plant is and has been at full capacity for a while now.

Interesting. In its official materials, BMW reports steady growth in production numbers since 2014, but says nothing about the plant running at full capacity. I guess we'll see which models get sacrificed.

Personally I'm not sure the cs even makes a lot of sense for the m2. The m2 has always been the "compromised" M car in the sense that it focuses on fun and not lap times. Which is part of why the manual take rate is around 50%

The cs seeks to undo all of that with a dct only and a focus on lap times. And it will be very expensive. Not sure it will dent M2 prices. Just like the M4 cs won't.

For another data point, I spoke with my CA at my local dealer about both the base M2 LCI and the CS.. He said his list for the CS was 5-6 deep but his list for the normal M2 was wide open. I ended up giving a deposit for his next base M2 allocation.

Did you see the quotation marks? Marketing and PR are important factors. It's why the CS will only be offered in automatic for lap times purposes.
