Does anyone else sell black kidney grills besides BMW MPerformance and IND? These two seem over priced IMO.

Unless you want aftermarket, the least expensive option appears to be to buy the black surrounds and swap over your slats.

Yes just get a 2-series black grill and swap them, Same thing and youll save a TON

You guys talking about IND black surrounds for like $130? or is there something cheaper? I don't want to wrap or plastiDip.

EDIT: I just found a MPerformance Gloss Black grills on getbmwparts.com for F22 for $59.20 per side. I'm guessing I can swap the surrounds?

You just pop out the inserts/slats and reinstall them into the black surrounds. That way you keep your M2 emblem.

No you are just fine in my book. Im going with black grill look but I'm still keeping chrome side gills because i actually like those in chrome.

M2 isn't an overpriced car. So I'm not buying parts that are overpriced.

Same deal here. I'm trying to source the cheapest way to get these black grills along with all the m performance bits as the dealers in Australia just plain rip us off. There is no shame in being frugal with your money.

Does the M2 badge come from the BMW Black grilles?

Or does it get transplanted from the original M2 grille.

I did get the M Performance grille and the originals are packed up somewhere when I took delivery so hadn't noticed it before

If you buy the M Performance grills, made for the M2, the badge comes on the left one. However, you can buy the black F22 grills at a fraction of the cost, and swap the slatted inserts with your stock set.

As Tumbleweeds78 has said, the badge is on the inner slats that you transfer over.

The grills are 2 separate pieces, the outer edge, i.e. all chrome on the original grills, and then the inner piece which has the slats, the clips that hold the entire assembly to the bumper, and in the case of M2 grills, the badge. When you get the grills for an F22 you simple separate the two pieces, remove the grills from your car (can be a bit of a pain), then separate that set of grills and then uses the inner pieces from your car and the black surrounds from the F22. Then you can sell the combined version of your surround + F22 inner as replacements for any F22 owners (or keep them if you want to go back to stock).

Chrome belongs on AMG and RS models because they tend to lean a bit more towards luxury than do M cars. Chrome also compliments the very impressive interiors of those two brands. They make me to think of 'old money' when seen on the road. Blacked out kidneys and shadowline trim exhibits sport, not luxury, which is what the M2 is all about. This is all my option, of course, but also irrefutable facts

I just think on a LBB car, the grilles themselves are already black, putting a black surround just makes it look like it has gaping holes up there from a distance. The chrome serves to accent a little bit.

I wish they offered matte / sandblast chrome / "aluminized" look. That's what my Audi has all over the place and it's very spiffy compared to standard shiny chrome. A nice pop of brightness without being shiny and reflective.

I'm with you on this actually... I've been considering the IND Black Chrome option, but it's expensive to have this treatment for all of the chrome - Kidneys, Side Gills and both M badges.
