The old "put tires of different brand"..

I have done some looking around and of course all tyre manufacturers recommend putting the same brand/type tyres on the car.

Thing is that the rears wear out so much faster, even though I don't track the car, and I have to say the Continentals feel slippery..

So I was planning on maybe putting some Michelin Pilot Sport S4 on the rears because I had them on my 335 and they felt really good..

So has anyone tried having different brands/types on the rears? Does it "really" matter?

I've done it before on my old Infiniti G. It was my regular daily and I didn't push it harder than some spirited driving. Didn't experience any problems.

Rears were Bridgestones and fronts were Conti Extreme Contact Sport

I think as long as the fronts are paired and the tears are paired, it's fine. I wouldn't mix left/right, but front/back should be fine.

The problem with mixing tires is they front and rears will handle differently in the rain.

We get a fair amount of rain, so I wouldn’t do it where I live.

Rain in Seattle? You don't say!

Speaking as somebody with OCD, it would kill me to have different brands

I’ve seen people drive with different rims front and back. I’m sure you’ll be fine with tires.
Lol
