To be perfectly fair, I might not have let the TPMS register that they were <27psi ... After lunch, I went directly back out on track and warmed the tires up

If I lower the pressures to say 27lbs and reset the TPMS why wouldn't it take the new pressure into account and adjust accordingly?

What pressure is to low for these things? Doesn't seem like the high 20s' should create a problem?

26/27 is fine. Anything below that will put the car in comfort mode. Altho, it sounds like the newer cars don’t have an issue with even lower pressures.

I ran into problems in the high 20's last year at autocross. Corrected after adding air.

Sounds like the LCI cars are OK without sensors. Still waiting to hear from pre-LCI guys.

I'm pre LCI, had the issue of the car refusing to go in any mode but comfort until I did a reset. Fortunately it worked out that it took place on a run to the gas station between sessions. It doesn't like any history of pressures under 30 psi without a reset apparently. I have sensors in my track wheels, never thought of trying to go without besides I like having the pressure and temp display so either way I would go with them. I will just be sure to maintain over 30 psi.

Be careful if you run with track wheels without TPMS. I took my car in for some service and asked if they would replace my green brake calipers and they said no because I tracked my car and they could tell because I ran wheels w/o TPMS sensors, WTF?

Confirmed issue with TPMS Sensors. Went to Laguna Seca in the AM sensor said low pressure but figured it would heat up fine. Tires did but I had to reset before it would let me do anything but comfort mode. That's unfortunate as I ran without TPMS sensors at the track with my last car because why pay for them?
Glad I figured it out before I got track wheels/tires for this car.

I think the title of this thread should be changed to specify pre-LCI cars. I have a 2018 and am running with no TPMS. I just say ok in start up and live with an icon on the dash. All driving modes seem to work.

Going without TPMS to using the summer wheels/tires for my e90. They happened to be a recommended fit for the M2 so I figure why not run them for a summer, but didn't want to risk my OEM wheels to a tire shop just to put the sensors in.
