437M Powder Coated Black

Just got these back to resolve a couple of minor scuffs. They turned out great! Also got the roof wrapped in gloss black.

Credit to Deviate Auto Sport in Houston for the work.

powder coat

Question: I'm about to powder coat my 437's. Did you have your wheels sand blasted, or chemically stripped? The guy at the powder coat place is telling me I am running a risk sandblasting them, as it may "weaken" the wheel. These are new, high quality wheels. I cant imagine that sandblasting would impair their structural integrity. Your thoughts?

Sandblasting takes a layer off it.. so technically true but it’s minimal.

Deviate does lots and lots of poweder coat refinishing and didn't bat an eye at the idea of doing these. They turned out GREAT. For the record, I've got some Apex FL-5s coming for track duty so not intending for these wheels to ever see overly stressful activity.

More pics to come this weekend when I can get to them.

Thinking of getting my 437m gloss black too - did you find the wheels looking smaller or loosing definition at all?

How are they holding up?

Holding up great and for my taste, just right. Added a pic of the loose wheel/tire next to my new Apex FL-5s loaded with 265/35-18s.

Sandblasting would not weaken the wheel. In fact, you are work hardening the surface, making the surface even harder.
