Would you consider test driving also a M550i while at it? For s-and-giggles... and your impressions...

Ugh... probably a good idea (and a bad one! ). I do wish they didn't use so much chrome on the front of the 5-series. But that car is amazing.

As a current M3 owner I've been going back and forth on getting into an M2 CS eventually.
I love the m3 and all that it offers. I'm sure I'll miss the creature comforts and space but I also prefer the size of the M2. Its great to have choices.

I drove both the M2 and the M3/4 in Thermal as part of the 2 days Advanced M class and I will take a slightly tuned M2 any day (which is exactly what I am about to have).
M3 is a great machine, crazy acceleration, handling and stopping power but the handling of the M2 is what confirmed my choice. It's so agile and playful and at the same time absolutely controllable exactly they way you want it. In the M3 with its size, I didn't feel the same. |

and OMG the ride to work this morning was so much more comfortable in the M3 but I certainly did not enjoy the sound of starting the car as much as I did the M2.....

Sorry, even in sport plus the F80 steering isn't like the BMWs of old. Just picked up a low mileage 335is and was reminded steering feedback/feel is so much better in the hydraulic of yore..thread officially derailed

Have to agree with this...the old system was certainly better. But that's not coming back...

But/and...everything posted is true (so far) Car feels/drives SO much bigger (still getting used to this, so that might change) Sounds TERRIBLE on cold start, but fine once you get going. and the interior.... well, wow, I didn't realize how much I missed having a nice interior

I don't like the seats in the M3 - more beautiful to look at than sit in for my 5'8" 165lb frame - but I think the M3 is a beautiful design. I'd be happy to have one in my driveway, if the extra space and 4 doors weren't being wasted on a 2-person family. And right now there are 70 of them on Swapalease, with some very sweet short-term deals, so it's tempting! We'll end up with an M2 in the end, but I always look twice when an M3 rolls by. Especially in the Austin Yellow, WOW.
