BMW Fuel Injector warranty extension and retroactive reimbursement

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
As most of us probably know, the injectors on these cars tend to suck

I just got a notice in the mail saying BMW is extending the warranty to 10 years or 120k miles. They're also reimbursing previous repair costs. Has anyone else seen this notice yet?

Unfortunately for me, I replaced the injectors myself, and I used injectors from Rockauto.

What do you think my chances are for getting that refund...

(Apologies in advance for the huge pictures)

Nope, I bought my 2010 off-lease in 2012.
Not certified-pre-whatever, from a small dealer.
But I still get all the recall stuff and Sirius propaganda in the mail.

Interesting, thanks for replying. I bought my car CPO from a big dealer in Atlanta and BMW knows who/where I am (got an airbag recall notice in the mail awhile back), but I have yet to receive this. CPO expired a few months ago, not sure if that matters (to BMW).

Haha, I just got two episodes of rough starts in my 1st week of ownership. I think the injectors are to blame but have not scanned it to know for sure. Glad to hear this and hopefully I get covered.

The N54 and N55 injectors are physically different.
The notice doesn't specify, but it could very well be N54 only.

Good luck... diagnosing this car can be fun.
I had similar issues with mine that turned out to be a combination of cracked valve cover and bad plugs AND leaky injectors AND dying coil packs.

Any chance they'll extend this back to 2008 cars or were they not effected somehow?

I'd also be interested. I purchased my injectors a few months ago from a private seller brand new to the tune of about $900. Can't imagine I'll ever see that back though.

Yep, I got mine from the same seller and I've pretty much kissed it off.

What really chapped me was when he dropped his price to $725 a couple weeks later...

Those of you guys who purchased OEM injectors, even if they weren't sourced from a BMW dealer, should still apply for reimbursement. The worse they can say is no. I liken this to extended warranties. When I had to file a claim and they were looking for an out from paying for a whole valve train overhaul on my Focus, the asked for oil change receipts. I provided them with all the receipts from Advance Auto showing I had purchased the oil and filter. Of course I DIY'd it and they accepted this as proof I had kept up with the maintenance of the vehicle.

Strangely (or not), one of these letters showed up at my house today. It has a number to call with questions. I'll definitely be calling it to throw myself on their mercy...

Because I hadn't heard hide nor hair of it until this thread, then suddenly on the very next day I get a letter from BMW? Usually the wheels of divine intervention take a while to turn...

I'd go with... " or not".. since you appear to own an affected vehicle..
