That's exactly what BMW wants.

Yes, but the first year is free.
Wtf, how is CarPlay subscription based? What happens if I opt to not get it, is the native UI okay? Does it have another projection type interface ala ford mysync?

Carplay use to be a one time fee of $300, but just like everything else they realized they can really stick it to you by making it subscription based. To sell it they said "most people lease" ( don't get me started on that BS line they constantly recycle) and since the first year is free you only pay $180 over a three year lease. Their other pitch was that even if you're not leasing you get it for free for the first year and even though it's $80/yr thereafter you can cancel it at anytime. Ohh, I can? Thought never crossed my mind.

That said, you can completely disable Carplay if you don't want it. There's no additional hardware for it, it runs on the same system as iDrive. LCI cars that didn't come from factory with Carplay could have it enabled if you paid $300 after the fact. BMW would then send you a code to unlock Carplay for life. That's no more.

I know it sounds like I'm upset about this. Well, yes and no. I could give a sh*t about Carplay and never planned on getting it or using it. I just hate subscription based schemes designed to bend you over without consent, and don't even have the decency to offer up some Vaseline.

Although I love my car...I have to say, I'm a bit angry.
This is how it should have been made all along.

I am definitely jealous. Makes mine feel really old and outdated.

Our car is old and outdated. Wait a bit and it will be a classic.

I feel the same way, those new Volvo commercials that say "you used to buy music too" make me flip the channel. I am not going to pay for a subscription model. There is no extra service I am getting with carplay that gets improved over time smfh

I bowed out of my allocation. My dealer straight up said MSRP without hesitation but I keep crunching the numbers and looking at the only color I'll settle for is black. That being said I ended up getting a lightly used M3 spec'd the way I want for the same price.

The M2C does look like it will be a fun, small car but I was making too many compromises.

Agreed.

2016-2017 “Classic M2”.
Single-model year 2018 M2 LCI, a la 1991 318is E30.

Let’s all be happy that BMW is trying to rekindle “The Ultimate Driving Machine”.

I get it. All I’m considering is the same kind of deal I could potentially get now. To each his own. Some folks frankly don’t care what they spend; in San Rafael, California, I believe the first 2016 M2 sold for more than $100,000. Nor do some care about about ED or PCD, but I did. I want my M2 to be my first and only Bimmer — pry it away from me when I’m dead — so I’m happy with the deal I got. I called nearly every dealer in California until I got the configuration I wanted (6MT, LBB, CarPlay, Moonroof, UC+ and no annoying nannies or bumper pockmarks with NO Exec Pack) at MSRP sticker with both ED and PCD — the delivery experiences were worth all the effort and waiting.

I’m surely a bit jealous of the engine and its related improvements, not to mention the cosmetics (M mirrors more than the less comfortable M sport seats), but I wouldn’t break $60K for them on an M2C.

Good luck to folks, but IMHO, the Classic M2 was priced perfectly, so I’d start looking at the M3/M4 now that M2C brings most folks above $60K.

I agree. I love my LCI M2 and like the M2C, but if I had it to do over again, I would have doubled down, and really pushed my dealer to get the 16 M2 instead of a 16 M235i. I know everyone's opinion on the M2 is different, but I think the people who got the M2 in 16 really made out well, especially when you consider the old warranty.

+1. Not to mention when you start adding options, considering the new standard options and Exec Pack price decrease, price diff to LCI is really only $3750. The amount of updates far exceeds that price. This car is a screaming bargain. MY2019 M3/M4 about to get their annual price bump too.

How do you suppose the prices break down, ordering with the car, versus getting them later and selling off stock wheels?

I didn't realize they were 20's. That explains why they look better. A size up always looks a bit more agressive

The stock M2 wheels are so so to me, but I do not like the M2C wheels at all. The M Performance wheels look by far the best IMO, but those 666's would have been better than either of the first two choices.

True! Like I said, did not catch that they were 20's. That is a deal breaker for sure

I agree, but in the end the M3 makes little sense to me. I have no use for another big car. If you purely want it as a sports car, then the M2C is a better choice. If you are looking for value and/or dual purpose, yes, then a slightly used M3C is the way to go. Better colors for sure also.

Yes, and they can sell it for very little depreciation and still jump up to a new one.

Best bet would be buy the 763m wheels only, part# 36118053421 and 36118053422. Then transfer over tires and tpms from 788m wheels. BMWpartpros have 763m wheels for $3200, sell new 788M for $2000.

No, you need to order them from the right place like BMW Morristown:

Front 763 is $715.50, and the rear is $787.50.

Thanks a little better but they don't have a dedicated online order portal, so I have to call and still pay NJ sales tax and possible shipping.. So add $200 to the total..

How many allocations do dealers typically get for new models like this? 3? Per quarter? So I’m number five on list but if I need to wait to q4 to order won’t have car to end of q1 2019. Far off, makes the current model more attractive

Usually depends on the size of the dealer.
