FTP Turbo Inlet Pipe
I have no affiliation with FTP, but just noticed this available for pre-order on their website: https://www.ftpmotorsport.com.tw/pro...ipe-intel-pipe
I assume this is FTP's answer to the Pure Inlet Pipe. The price isn't bad considering it's a full replacement for the stock part, rather than just the end price. I like that it has a mounting tab which the Pure one lacks, but I wonder how well it will flow compared to the Pure and stock parts. Some photos (pulled from their site):

Nice find, Nezil!
Why do you suppose they made it taper so drastically and didn't engineer a more gradual reduction in diameter?

It's still quite a bit better than the stock moulded plastic I think: And here's the Pure part to compare:

This comparison of the ends, makes the FTP look somewhere between the inner bore of the Pure and the Stock pipes:

The taper could be created using sheet aluminum and a roll former to shape a cone, or buying premade transitions. That said, both of those add cost in terms of materials and labor operations. That piece is about the best the market gets for under $200. |

If FTP bore is less than Pure then the cost effectiveness of FTP v Pure is questionable in my mind. Having used Pure on Mx35i and got another to install on m2 the extra $$ is it worth it IMHO

Is there any benefit to these pipes? I may do the Stage 1 turbo upgrade soon and am curious if all the inlet/outlet pipes do anything, or if it’s just peace of mind.
Thanks. |

I find it hard to believe that the inlet pipe matters all that much. The turbo inlet is just a vacuum cleaner mouth. What are you gaining from smoothing the airflow going into an impeller that is just sucking air that it's going to compress anyway?

Sounds like I may be the first to try this pipe out. FTP is shipping the first batch on Monday and I’m putting it on along with the other FTP pipes, Dinan turbo, CSF radiator, oil cooler, and DCT cooler.
Labor should be minimal while everything is ripped out, and I figure $180 is worth some cheap insurance while on track and maybe even an hp or two. |

No problem - bit of long shot - classic case of "if you don't ask, you don't get !"
