It's well known at this point that the RS3 is faster than the M2 in a straight line given its HP advantage while having similar weight. Personally, I wouldn't trade the Audi's extra oomph for the RWD driving dynamics (and MT) of the M2.

I had fun in the RS3 I test drove. Felt fast and sounded great. But I agree with above, I'm not quite ready to give up RWD dynamics + 6mt just yet.

I haven't even seen an RS3 in the flesh yet, much less gotten to drive one. It looks like a great package though - once again, there should be a M2 GC or sedan of some kind. Missed opportunity by BMW IMO.

I really love the 5 cylinder motor in the RS3. Just spent a weekend at Audi's ice test facility in Sweden and saw some of their drivers doing some insane stuff with RS models on the track.
One thing I can't get over is the odd proportions of the RS3..maybe it's just the rear isnt wide enough? I think they look amazing from the front but the side and rear just look a bit squashed almost? M2 on the other hand looks great from all angles in my opinion.. I like it, but it doesn't stand out really, but relative to other cars I can't imagine it's boring. Boring compared to an M2, but compared to most other cars it looks pretty slick. It doesn't look different enough from the A3 or S3 though, but maybe that's the point for some people.

Do not trust the audi speedometer. There is a video ttrs vs m2 in which it looks like the m2 is way slower. Then they compare the gps speed and it reveals that the m2 is just a tiny bit slower. Just cheap speedotuning by audi

I agree that the M2 looks better, but the front end of the Audi is nicer to me. But they both look nice overall - the Audi sounds better too, and the M2 is probably the best sounding M car right now.

Not surprised with the result but wouldn't have got an M2 if I sought out to chase straight line speeds.
That being said, I seriously considered the S3 a year ago and at that price point I would've probably picked it over the M235i. The M235i was a bit more with similar equipment IIRC. I still prefer the infotainment and seats in the Audi but fell for the widebody on the F87 |

I was deliberating for a bit myself- M2 v RS3, went with M2. Would've been a much much tougher decision though if RS3 was available with a manual. Appeal of RS3 was interior and AWD given that I live in Toronto...

I just finished spending a whole weekend driving an RS3 over 1500 miles. The M2 has much more confidence, but the RS3 is faster in a straight line. I can tell you that the vbox in the car was pulling 3.6 0-60 times on stock software, with our software was around 0.2-0.3 faster. My M2 could never keep up with it especially in manual. But I would pick an M2 over it everyday, and if I was forced to go Audi I would pick up an A3 instead as it’s a much better car for the money.
