I'm with SoCalRob and not sure what you're getting at. I don't think this is poor implementation, as this makes it easier to open/close the doors and it is definitely a design characteristic.

My G35C which I owned for 8 years, plus my current 370Z going on 5 years have it. I've never experienced a rattle or any issue with this at all. Also this feature may have actually saved my daughter from breaking a bone, when her boyfriend accidently closed the door (window portion) on her fingers.

The windows are designed to work that way to not have pressure when the door closes. This is how my windows work on a 09 135i.

I'm gonna throw out a suggestion that after decades of making coupes with frameless windows ...BMW designers and engineers know what they're doing.....don't worry about window motor longevity.

Heck even if they eventually fail coolness > future bill worries. Life is short.

Group Buy for Window Frames.....I contacted a fabricator in the UK. They will make door frames for the M2, but the doors will now open like a Lambo....is that ok??? Price is $27,000 US dollars per car. Sounds like a bargain to fix this horrible problem. Comes with a new switch to let you put the car in Sport Plus - just by thinking about it, no clicks needed and also makes the back up sensor warning stop beeping by a voice command "Shut up dam it," but can be customized for $39.21 extra.

Good news all. It appears that 1984/1985 series Mazda RX-7 doors are kinda close to a fitting replacement ----and those doors have frames !! . It may take some bondo and work with the steel stretcher tool, but - by golly -we're a smart group of folks here on this site

Appreciate your trouble - do you think your fellow would do framed-to-frameless conversions for my 1er hatch?
