In cases like this it all depends on what you can tolerate.
A 4 door car is easier to place kids in the back no question, but a 2 series is up to the task of carrying a baby seat, it's not impossible. It all depends on if you are willing to put a little extra effort into getting the kid in and out. Plus, you already have another car and the baby will only occasionally be in the M2. I side with the group of of people that say go for the M2, it's not the end of the world to put a baby in the back seat of a coupe. I never understood people buying a full size SUV just because they have 1 kid?! We've gotten so spoiled, back in the 80's all cars were tiny, and thousands of families did fine. People now are like "oh I actually have to bend over to put my kid in the car F that! Wheres the SUV store!" " Honey we're going to Target for 30mins, I need to carry a full size stroller, 40 diapers, extra formula, and an extra set of clothes just in case, lets make sure we pack that 3rd row of seats full of toys just in case the baby gets cranky!" Anyway done ranting, don't let these soccer moms and dads scare you into conforming to the boring car life. |

If it's anything like the E9X chassis, the coupes are actually easy to strap a car seat in. Yes there may be a little less room, but ease of install is a big one for me.
I have a sedan and have easy access to a coupe. So much easier in the coupe. I say get the car you've been dreaming about and live with it. Plus all the memories you'll make with the kid in the car will only make it that much better |

The tough part isn't getting your baby into and out of the car-- I've had coupes my kids' whole lives.... The tough part will be convincing your wife that it will work.....

Shows two things: 1) it fits baby seats just fine 2) Canadian cars have 40/20/40 split seats standard. |

I commented on a similar post earlier..solid topic!
..I have a 8month year old son with a rear facing seat. Took the base/car seat to my local dealer and tried it on the 2. So it works but the passenger seat has to be pretty far up. Its doable for a trip to the grocery store (depending on the parameters of whomever is sitting in the front passenger) but for long distance might be tough. Its fine for one rear facing + whatever else that's not rear facing. Perfect for picking up the kids from daycare on the way home, then taking wife's car to the beach. Cars.com has GREAT data on this and every car..check it out. https://www.cars.com/articles/2015-b...1420680861379/ hope this helps! Also I CANT wait when I can do this with my son.. |

Time flies, they grow fast ...and certainly remember the good times (including for example how the surge feels when climbing the Stelvio Pass in Northern Italy).

Honestly, I'd go F80 M3 if I had kids.

Oh you can get a baby seat back there and then a toddler seat...The question is how long you'll want to twist and contort like that, put up with the cheerios in the car (you'll give in eventually for sanity sake) and mess your seats up with a base in there for years.
Time for a 4 door bros...I only waited 8 years till I got rid of my 4 doors for an E46 M3. Time flies

I have had several coupes: a front-facing seat was no issue whatsoever. It is easy to put the kid into the seat from a 45 degree angle when you pull the seat forward.
With that said, a rear-facing baby seat will be tougher. Not impossible, and kids are only in those for 12 months at the most; you can deal with it if it's the car you really want. Once they are in a front-facing, you are good to go. The sedan being easier with little ones is a myth: it is harder to get a kid strapped in from the side at 90 degrees than it is from 45 degrees as you would in a coupe. I have both an E92 and an old single-door access cab truck (seat pulls forward) and it has been 5 years now, never considered it being an issue. |

My fiance will always drive a coupe: she has 2 kids! Doesn't want to be the mom driving around the lame school bus. Plus, her kids get to rock out in that car. They love it! Hot moms don't drive SUV's...neither should dads.
