I need help. New M2
Ok, I just took delivery of my 2017 m2 on Saturday. I drive it to a satellite office (180 mikes) yesterday and noticed the gap in the front was pretty high and the car seemed stiff. I called the dealership and my SA had me bring the car in last night and apparently they didn't remove all the spacers from the car. He said that there are three spacers and they missed the last one which was the smallest.
I drive a total of 192 miles on the car with that spacer in place. He reassured me that this will not affect the car whatsoever and he is having the service manager call me later today. Car seems to be driving fine but I am really upset that this happened. What does everybody think? Do I have any concerns about long term problems with the car?

There were people who drove 5,000+ miles with them in over on the 6 series forum. All good (although their ride sucked during this time)

He filled my tank yesterday. I really like the dealership and the SA is great. I bought my previous M3 through then and did 100% of my service with them and have never had an issue

That is disappointing.
Sad that the dealer missed that. But they did adjust and fix it (and filled your tank). Thank you for sharing - as I will look at this before I pick up mine. |

Correct. Google shipping spacers BMW. They help prevent damage while car is in transit.

Those that had the issue say it was like driving a car without shocks

I got a call from the service manager apologizing and he says he wants to buy an accessory for my car. My only concern was any long term damage which there isn't and honestly I didn't mind coming back to the dealership to have them address the issue. What do you think is reasonable for an "accessory"?

I am sure it will be fine. If you are worried that much about the suspension, make the free accessory the M coilovers

I would be a little irritated but mistakes happen. It is surprising that they would miss the spacers since it on the checklist they sign off on and I doubt this is the first M2 that went through the PDI at the dealership.

I can't believe this still happens! I've heard of it so often it's ridiculous. You'd think a BMW tech would remove all four before doing doing anything else at PDI, first job, every time in an attempt to not get it wrong!!

But if you have black grills you could get them to change the gills to the M Performance Black. Or maybe the M Performance floor mat set. You could always ask for a M Performance steering wheel, but that's pushing it for a spacer which caused no damage.

Coming from my VW Golf R, this was an all too common occurrence on the MK7's. Strut pucks for everyone!
