How many purchased M2 without seeing/trying?

Just curious, how many people purchased an M2 did so without seeing or test driving it? If so, any regrets?

Yes, I got an early delivery in April last year. Had ordered and deposit down before I had seen or driven the M2. I had seen various internet articles and driven an M3 and 1M. Have also owned 2 earlier model M3. No regrets.

I'd say 95%+ purchased sight unseen and so far I think one member truly regretted it and sold it because of the crooked seats (go figure...).

That's amazing! That's not something I can do. Not when I'm spending $60k.

Better go to a car show then , it's not a hard decision you have plenty of references to know what you are getting . Car is sick

I won't buy a vehicle without driving it. I've done that before and regretted it. Just going off of what other people like/dislike/think doesn't work for me (no offense to anyone on this forum). I'm not in a rush to buy so I can wait until a dealer gets one in.

Not me - I'd registered interest in the M2 on-line so was invited to a 1/2 day track drive if M2/M4 then followed that up with a 15 min road drive. Both were DCT but my 1er is manual so my only slight concern is adapting to the rev-matching.

I still haven't taken delivery, but will do so in April after not having driven one. I'll definitely test drive it before plunking down any cash though.

I've seen them several times, and sat in one.

I saw one from the outside. Never the inside nor drove one. I did have the dealer agree that I can get my deposit back and walk away if I end up hating it's guts.

The dealers pretty much don't have them to test drive. I'm not worried.

The M2 is not the car for you then. It's near impossible to find a dealer that has one in stock and even if they did they won't let you drive it.

It's a car in high demand so no dealer wants to sell a "new" model with 500 miles of definitely-not-break-in-approved driving.

EDIT: a few did manage to hook up with local forum members for a spin in their cars. Maybe try that.

I ordered sight unseen but my dealer called me when a LBB M2 was delivered. Fell in love with the color so I changed my order. This is a car that is generally not on show room floors. I'm moving from an E92 M3 and can't wait!!

No test drive and didn't see one in the flesh, but the Wife has an M235 and the reviews were epic, so I clicked the buy button.

This is my third (correction 4th) car that I bought site unseen.

(bought an '88 Honda CRX DX without driving it LOL, forget about that one, drove it for 6 years and sold if for MORE THAN I PAID FOR IT WTF)

I went from a '94 325 is to a '97 M3 without driving it.

Then from a '00 A6 4.2 to a '03 RS6 without driving it.

So in those two instances I had already been driving a similar car (same body, etc) but with less power. I drove the M3 for 5 years (lease) and only returned it because I need a larger car, that was probably a mistake LOL. I still drive the RS6 as my daily drive.

I was looking for a new car but did not want to spend too much. I miss my '13 A8L, but if I went that route I'd be driving a S8 and not eating. Instead after dropping off that lease, I waited a year or so, and begin looking. I was driving my used '08 A4 convertible. I was trying to keep the price down around 50K but did not want to punish myself that much and get a car without a soul. The A4 was 'ok' but was becoming a money pit.

The M2 sounded perfect, basically the same sized car as my '97 M3 but with more power and newer electronics.

I found an M2 which was available within driving distance, worked a trade deal on my A4 and bought the M2 over the phone. MSRP with financing through BMW.

I guess I am not that picky LOL.

I find if you go to buy a car with the plan of 'ordering' a car, you get dragged over the coals (sure I'll get the $6000 stereo upgrade and the special headliner option).

Buying off the lot is usually a better deal for most. I like that fact that the M2 has very few options (color, transmission and with or without executive package) as that kept it simple.

Some cars that you 'buy off the lot' end up not being anything near the car you 'read about' since most lots have the 'base model' with little extras or the 'loaded one' with some crazy dealer markup. I was looking to buy a Mustang GT350 (was loaded) but they wanted $15,000 markup! I offered CASH on the spot for the car at MSRP and they told me no.

So no regrets here.

I normally wouldn't buy sight unseen, but I'm currently in an M235, which I like a lot but don't love.

I think the M2 should tick those last two boxes, although I'm a shade concerned about Houston roads and the former suspension.

I bought without trying or sight unseen. that is a little misleading though as like many others I watched the rave video reviews pour in from journalists, regular joe's etc. and I drove an M235i and an M4. The fact that it would be like an M235i but better in every way was what sold me as I really liked the M235i. When taking delivery of my M2 I was blown away by how much better it was. So sight unseen is a little misleading as I'm sure I speak for almost everyone that a lot of research and thought went into the purchase and it was far from blind.

Haven't technically bought yet, but have put down a deposit...still a few months away from firming up when my allocation number comes up...by then it will be a MY18...so still some speculation out there on what that will mean (not re-opening that here). Currently have an F30 - N55 with MPE and MPPK...so if the M2 is better than this...I have no need to drive one. Forum member was kind enough to meet up so I could see LBB in person. Beautiful. Enough for me, I will move ahead when I get the call form the dealer to firm up.

Saw one at the Welt, but would have bought it untried anyway based on having driven the similar M235i, the detailed reviews and knowledge of the components.

I bought it without test driving. I did saw one in person in Europe (March 2016 in BMW museum). I test drove a M235xi, watched all the videos on Youtube and somehow had the faith that M2 is not gonna disappoint me :P

Had never seen an M2 in the flesh until the day I took delivery of mine (April 2016).

Refused to go see the M2 on display at a car exhibition in my country in January 2016. Also refused to go see mine when it had arrived at my dealer. Only at delivery, detailed and with all ordered M Performance bits: "I see now: indeed better stance IRL than on pictures".

I trusted that BMW M would tweak it the right way.

"gets one in" like to test drive?? Good luck with that. Count yourself lucky if they even let you sit in it but neither are likely if the car is already presold.

Ton of research online and via YouTube. Knew what I wanted and saw this ticked the boxes. I got exactly what I was expecting and am loving it.

I bought mine sight unseen. I'm blind.
Can't wait for the first drive. Dealer would t let me drive their demo.
