Brake Pads : Endless vs Pagid vs AP Racing

Hi all,

I am considering upgrading my brake pads before to hit my first trackdays with my M2 (Laguna Seca in March ). I have little track experience and I am looking for something that will work well with the OEM rotors and that can be dedicated to the track (depending on noise level I would swap back to OEM pads after the track).

Do you guys have any feedback / preferences between Endless ME20, Pagid RS29 and AP Racing (ref???). I see that lots of us here are running with Pagid but my mechanic recommended Endless. Curious to hear about your experience.

Cheers !

A nice cheaper alternative are the ferodo ds2500(street hybrid) and the ds1.11. I run the ds2500 in the rear and the 1.11 in the front. The DS's are serious pads, loud but I couldn't hurt them if I tried

Carbotech claims their pads are non-corrosive which is why I bought them. Having used them they do the job just fine. Definitely need to swap them out for the track though. Very loud when not heated up.

I've tried all of the above and Ferodo were by far the best for the track. I was at Laguna the past two weekends running the DSUno (though the DS1.11 is awesome as well) and they performed like a champ. Love them.

I have used DS2500, DS3000, DS1.11, Pagid RS14 and Pagid RSL1.
I think that in the end it comes down to driving style and the feel that individuals prefer.
A high initial bite is comforting (DS1.11) and I found that I liked that for a while but later I tried the RS14 and liked that and found it a bit easier to modulate. Less bite and maybe this allows more feel.
But to be honest different drivers will feel different things so you just gonna have to try a couple and see if you have a preference.
Most high performance racing pads are going to stand up to a thrashing ok - Its more about how you like the feel.
I was a bit surprised that I could actually feel the difference.

If your event isn't until March, might be worth waiting a bit.

According to my friend at Tire Rack, Hawk will release their M2/3/4 pads in Q1 of this year.

This would include Hawk's DTC70 compound, which is my current favorite road course compound.

Hi guys, any update on that topic ? Which brake pads would you recommend to 3 track days a year (and a swap of pads for road use) ? I am looking for pads to use with the oem rotors, thus not too abrasive...

And by the way, do you have an online retailer to recommend in Europe (Belgium) ?

Cheers,

Quick update on my side, I ended up going full OEM parts (except for Endless brake fluid). I wanted a feel of what can the car do as stock. 2 days at Laguna Seca, day 1 was dry and sunny and I have been really agressive on the brakes, day 2 was pretty much wet all day.

I experienced no fading at all and was quite pleased with the brakes but I would love more bite. I will upgrade for my next track days but I am not quite sure which brand to pick yet.

I was lucky enough to do a couple laps as a passenger in an instructor's M2 running RS29 and the braking was impressive (everything was really, complete different league).

Also it is worth mentioning, now my car vibrates quite a lot when I go from moderate to hard braking (feeling it from the seat more and barely through the steering wheel). I will need to have my pads and rotors checked to figure out where the problem comes from. I did respect all my cooling laps, no parking brake, ... Anyway, that's a different topic

Yes, driving style and preference have a lot to do with it. Just like dampers and springs, some are faster on super high rates and others are just as quicker with softer rates.
