Hard Wired Dash Camera .. VERY Easy
I have a dash cam in every car I own (4) and 3 of the kids cars. All are BlackVues. I hard wired both a dash cam and a radar detector in my 2012 535I F10. One I tapped into the mirror and the other I tapped into the overhead console. The mirror is much easier.
I used shawnsheridan posting on another forum to install the F10s. When I opened the rear view mirror's housing on the M2 (very easy) I found the same the 10-Wire Connector Plug inside it. The +12V (Switched off the ignition) on the Brown/Green wire and Ground on the Brown/Black wire. I used the wire taps and fed the wire at the top of the mirror housing. Good to go.

I am not sure. I have mine hooked up to turn off when the car's ignition is turned off. There is a product "Power Magic Pro" that can be used with the camera and set up to turn off after the battery reaches a certain voltage level and motion activated.

I do find though that mine generally shuts down after about 8hrs due to the battery voltage dropping too low, my car is generally not driven daily though so that probably doesn't help with the battery's charge. |

All of the dash camera I use are BlackVues. The one in the M2 is a Blackvue DR650GW.

Just installed one today. Thank you for the reassurance that it was easy as I'm mechanically challenged. I did it without using the mirror housing, I just hid the line through the top part of the housing then inside the lining all the way to the back. Used the cigarette outlet at the back and done. Can't believe the store was going to charge me $400 to do the installation... Damn thieves told me they do it professionally and will warranty their work...

Cool. I hope it never comes in handy for you! (That means you'll never have an issue while driving). With all of the road rage and bad drivers out there I look at it as an extra level of security. It takes any doubt out of most situations.

I have had issues with the mirco SD cards that come with the units. I usually swap them out for a SanDisk 64gb card. I always keep a spare in the glove box in case of a SD card failure.
