Good thread. I have been a BMW guy for a long time. Have owned the last 3 gen M3, a Z3 M roadster and recently a Z4 35is among others. Done schools and went to the ring in 07 for E 92 school/launch. Current daily is 2014 X5 35i. Trying to decide what to get next, thought M4, but was waiting to see what M2 was like. I like the look of 2015 Mustang and just ordered the GT 350. My dealer here gets 2 for 2016. This car is not competing with M2, think M4 and 911! For the price, I'm paying MSRP, it is a no brainer!

I spoke to a Ford dealership owner as well as a sales rep a couple weeks ago. The two allotted to the dealer were sold over 6mo ago with $4k deposits. They said I could likely get one in a year's time. That is incredible that you were able to buy one on the spot as I imagine very few are available here. Decisions decisions while I wait (hopefully) for the M2 CSL/GTS or whatever it ends up being called. I am #1 on my local wait list for that car as of yesterday.

I'm just gonna go ahead and leave this here:
And the more subtle version: I really like the M2 but if considering a track car, I'm not sure I could skip the GT350. |

ACZ, not in Europe. Small dealership in a medium size town. Friends with the owner and I talked to them last March about the car. They did buy in to the Shelby program and got an allocation of 2 for 2016. Going next week to put together final build. No deposit as yet, I told him I would put one down if he wants me to. I told him I would pay MSRP or pass, guess we will see.

I don't think you can really go wrong with either one, but you can't refute the GT350's presence - it screams "I'm mad tho" from all angles.
I mean who doesn't want to own a car that 'wants' to kill you every time you turn it on?

After looking at the M2, I'd have to go with the Shelby. M2 is a let down after all the hype. I hate seeing non functional designs on a car, like the front end, side vents, and the rear bumper reflector light thing . The Shelby is clean and smooth looking, and will provide a more fun ride.

GT350, M4 are in the same comparison group with the GT350 superior unless you like slushboxes. |

The gt350 is manual only. The M4 comes in manual and a non-slushbox DCT transmission. If you're going to say such crap use Facebook, not bimmerpost

Get over it, the M2 is not as good as a Focus RS in any area it's a lead sled, underpowered, wanna-be M3 for those who can't see past a badge. M235i >>>> "M"2 <-- seriously... |

M2 hasn't even been reviewed yet. It has M3/4 suspension and axles. Seems like you're just butt hurt, dude.

Agree that the m4 and mustangs are competitors based on size and weight. The ford price comes in near the m2 but that's about it. |

Our winner by a runaway vote, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R is, quite deservedly, the Road & Track 2016 Performance Car of the Year. |

While getting a 2015 GT350 for MSRP was a neat trick (they auctioned them off here) it appears that there will be something like 5000 made worldwide in 2016 and they will be produced for several more years. (http://www.autoevolution.com/news/20...eak-93254.html)
