Can an allocation be turned into ED?

After getting deposit and putting in the order I got the call that I have an allocation. We built it for ED, but somehow it is a regular allocation and is being held for me, but dealer is trying to change it to ED?? They will let me know tomorrow.

I am really close with Sales rep, family friend, but he is not the most tech/car savvy to say the least. Anyway, he is trying to change it otherwise I have to put it into the system and wait again for an ED allocation.

Anyone know how this works?

TIA

Provided there is sufficient time to get the paperwork done and they can get you a delivery time slot for the day you'd like to pick up, yes. The other limitation that I was given was that they didn't want the car sitting more than a month before delivery.

They don't produce the car until 2 weeks before your scheduled pickup date.

Salesman forgot to enter my order as ED when I put my money down, they were easily able to change it to ED for me.

ED set for 5/4/17.

This would be mostly true for ED in general, but mostly not true when you can't set the Welt pick up date at the time of order (the case for M2). Most people doing ED with M2 find their production week first, then make travel arrangements and Welt pickup date after. That is why I mentioned the 1 month limitation, though I don't think it's an ironclad rule.

Makes sense, and I agree.

BMW did indicate they needed a PO from the dealer 30 days prior to scheduling the pickup date. Just payment didn't need to be made until 7-10 days before the scheduled pickup date.

Yes if your dealer is willing to do it but some aren't.

Thanks to everyone who posted. I am confirmed for ED. Car is being built on 6/19. Now I just need to decide BSM or MG. 🙃

I did ED on my F80, but it was in January so I didn't drive (it was snowing).

If anyone wants to drive to Lake Como I would love to follow.

Congrats,

I will be in Como, but in May! Not in my M2 though. Have fun and enjoy!

BSM, in my biased opinion, is the color to get!
