I recently pulled up at a petrol station and saw a new M3 and a c63 coupe next to each other filling up. I pulled up behind the c63. From across the pump a guy jumps out of a corolla, looks my car up and down and then looks at me, 'nice car man!".
Sure it is the newest of the three and freshly clean but it was nice to hear from him as he took no notice of the other (more expensive) cars right next to me.

Heh. I did a 3 day CCA drive that was high speed on country roads where it was raining quite a bit the 2nd day and still raining a little the 3rd. My car was a mess after that. I "almost" went through a touchless car wash just to get it cleaned off. Looked at the menu at the gas pump, but ended up waiting for the weekend to wash it by hand.

Today, coming up to a set of lights in the distance that are turning red, I saw a young guy in his car on the opposite side trying to cross over.
I slow down and signal him to jump in front of me, he refuses my offer For a few seconds we go through the "you go, ok I'll go, no you go" routine... still perplexed why the hell he won't cross over in front of me, fine I carry on, he then joins behind me all excited. As the lights go green, I drop into sport and blip the throttle for him and then continue. Further on, he took the exit and gave me thumbs up with a big grin and eyes glued on the arches lol. Personal Reminder: Get a dashcam so I can film all this $hit. |

I remember talking with my SA last year about the car. I told her that I don't think people know what it is... and that I assumed it would get alot more attention than it does.

I previously owned a 2003 E46 M3, it was immaculate and was highly maintained. It didn't even get a third of the attention the M2 does. I received one thumbs up in the entire 4 years I daily drove it and that was from a 335i driver who knew what he was looking at. The E46M was an amazing machine, and I do miss the winding out that S54, but on the road no one really cared... I was fine with that, I enjoyed it. On the road, the M2 provokes a lot of reaction, the good kind - it makes people smile and stare. I remember someone saying the front looks like a big Tarantula (spider) with fangs sticking out lol. |

Just today...
"Nice ride" - white 328 owner. Thumbs up from a 535 owner. Seems to be mostly Porsche and BMW drivers that notice. Hate to think of the sort of attention the LBB gets

Gets more attention than expected actually. I had a guy the other day in a Black 991 GT3 see my car as i made a left hand turn. As his light turned green he floors it and passes me doing well over a hundred. He kneeeeewww i would get excited by him going past at 8500 rpm with a sharkwerks exhaust. Both of us gave each other a double thumbs up and heavy nods at the next light. I was probably smiling ear to ear more than he was though because he unknowingly had my dream car lol
Also gets the attention of a lot of other BMWs and Suburu WRXs of various generations. |
