I ordered without driving but I had already seen two different lbb in person. Knew I wanted it as soon as I saw the first one! Still haven't driven one or seen an MG in person. Since ordering five months ago I have now seen three lbb, two aw, and sat inside a bsm. Mostly at car meets or at the dealer, only twice in the road.

You could see if anybody on this forum lives nearby and is willing to let you take a ride. Believe it or not that's how got a ride in a M4 GTS.

On a waitlist for months, ordered without driving. I seriously doubt I'll have any regrets.
But I'm still trying to decide whether to keep my E36 M3 as well. |

I purchased my M2 with only a chance to sit in one. I normally don't test drive my new cars but I always have to sit in them. My driver's-position is key to me being able to own a vehicle. Shopping for cars is a lot like shopping for a suit...if they fit right, I buy them. The M2 has a surprisingly good driver's-position. Test drives for me are a waste of time, I have a decent idea of how any car will drive even before driving it and the things that disturb me most about a car I find over a period of time longer than test drive. I'd recommend renting any car as a test drive which is impossible for the BMW M2. All that being said, I am thrilled with my car.

Car sitting in Charleston waiting on PCD. I've only seen one car live (LBB) - never sat in it or drove it. Ordered BSM based off pics on this forum. Signed the paperwork with the dealer last week. I now own a car I've never seen and a model I've never sat in or driven. Blind faith....

Bought M2 without seeing first
I bought mine after seeing it advertised in Beverly Hills, CA. I live in Miami and had been looking for awhile and could not find an M2 that was not being sold here for over the MSRP. There was one that was being sold for $10k over MSRP and I just wasn't willing to pay that. I found the one I have now online, called the dealer and they told me it was being sold for the actual MSRP of $61k. I bought it over the phone and had it delivered to Miami. I love the car and have not regretted my decision for a minute!

I've only see it once at the LA Auto Show.
Did anyone test drive the car prior to signing the papers? Or did you show up to the dealership, signed everything and then just drive off? Also, how many miles did your guys' cars come with (assuming your ordered yours)? Thanks!!! |

I test drove an M235i with manual for about 10 minutes just to make sure there were no crazy red flags. When the M2 was released but I was still waiting for mine to be built, I purposely diverted my eyes when I saw an M2 on the road. Someone who lives near my work had one and I never peaked when it was up close: I could see that LBB a mile away. I was determined that the first M2 I'd get to see up close and in-person would be my own.
I never ended up succeeding though. When I arrived at Spartanburg for delivery and before they showed me my car, they seated me in a white M2 for the performance driving around their track so that ended up being the first. It didn't compare though to seeing my beautiful black sitting there in the delivery bay. |

Where I live they actually don't even let you. Can't even try the M240. They just don't bother. M cars seem to fly out of the showroom.

Saw the M2 at an auto show in Philly in Feb 2016 and thought "Finally, an M car in my price range!" Sat in one on the showroom floor in a local dealership in June 2016 and liked it even more. Dealer wasn't allowing test drives and the list was looooooong. From there I called/emailed other near and distant dealerships constantly and put my name on lists until I finally lucked out when an unclaimed M2 was being delivered to a dealer one state away. My first test drive came an hour before I purchased it last September. I totally bought into the hype and have no regrets!

I wonder which will show up first; my mail order Russian bride or the M2. Neither of which I test drove first but I hear they are both fun.

I ordered June 2016 without seeing one in real life. This will be my first BMW. Have driven friends' 3-series, but pretty excited that it's currently on a boat to Canada.

Cat fight over you for attention. Poor Russian gal will be home cooking and cleaning while you are out playing with your M2.

It's my second car that I bought without test driving it (first was MK6 Golf R).
No regrets so far on both cars. You don't need to test drive a fun car, because you know it will be fun!

I ordered without seeing or driving one. A few weeks later salesman tells me he has one and to come by and take it for a rip. I refused. It was DCT and I wanted the first experience to be in my car the day I pick it up. This will be my fifth Bimmer. I bought my previous car (2013 335is) the same way but even harrier. Transferred the money through my bank to a dealer in the U.S. just going off photos. It was 2 months old and had a few thousand km's on it. I took a bus from Toronto to Wilmington, Delaware and drove it home. Car was absolutely mint. Not one regret.

I was planning to get a used M135i... Went to a dealer and started to discuss a new M140i.
Got an offer. Went home to think. Two weeks later dealer called and asked if I wanted to testdrive a demo M2 they got. I did. Shit. I was sold. Thought about it two more weeks. Then I asked for a new test drive a Saturday. Told my wife at breakfast casually. She liked it, just a bit concerned about where those 2 backdoors went. Well, the rest is history and I'm going to PICK IT UP TOMORROW:-)
