all this crap about the gt350 being unavailable and way over priced is just that...crap. There are 4 for sale right now within 25 miles of me here in N.Virginia-the land of the disposable income and they are 55 to 57k-no huge mark up and they are on the lots.

Those are 2016 models. Relatively few 2015 were made and they typically went for a premium.

What dealership? Allocations or physical inventory?

Have you actually called the dealer and asked or is this just from looking at Cars.com or another similar site? Many dealers are listing them at MSRP and then asking a $5-10K mark up when you call. Haven't found one yet that will deal at MSRP.

They're going to make quite a few of them over the next couple of years. And with all the big dealers in Dallas and Houston I suspect you'll be able to get a deal on one. Seems there was even some big dealer in Houston that was famous on the forums for offering good deals on special models.

Sat and in and fired up a GT350 this week in Chicago area. Dealer just received it that afternoon and wants MSRP + $10k. After seeing the GT350 I'm now only interested in the GT350R.

No way you are going to get a meaningful response. Very, very few have seat time in both of these cars. In addition, very few on a BMW forum will approach a GT 350 with an open mind (very few on a Mustang forum would approach an M2 with an open mind). Finally, everyone, including you, has unique tastes and needs. Fortunately, these are VERY different cars. You should be able to reach a solid conclusion if you are clear about what you want.

I haven't gotten seat time because dealers around here are dumb and I also refuse to pay ADM.

But based on looks alone, I'd give it to the M2. I saw a GT350 for the first time and it required a double take to realize what it actually was. At a glance, it looks like any mustang. Whereas the M2 has more pronounced features to differentiate.

Well, I for one looked at both. End of the day, the Mustang was just a bit too big for me, and though a great performance value, the interior and quality feel is just a bit below what I'd need to spend that kind of money. Always liked doing more with less too, so M2 has that appeal as well. Hard to go wrong either way though, and the Mustang is Germany's top selling sports car

I see your point. Thanks. But when I asked the question I have not seen the M2 in person and have a very good deal standing in front of me to get a mustang gt350 ( I should be more clear). I finally saw one yesterday and I want one now! Good thing I waited to see both! IMO, M2 wins in looks and the GT350 is too big for me. I know performance wise GT350 wins but M2 offers that, too. I also thought that with the M2, I need to spend money for modifications and with the GT350 I can live with just the stock but I was wrong, after seeing the the M2, i like it as is.

I haven't driven an M2, but I have driven the GT350. It definitely feels like something special and the sounds it makes are unlike any car I've driven. Honestly you couldn't go wrong with either car.

If the gt350 was the same size of the e92. It would be a no brainer...but its just a bit too large for my taste. Great car nonetheless but far from perfect.

Just checked my local dealer (Seattle) and they have 3 GT 350's and they are markup up about $9K over msrp in a range of $69k-$79K. Maybe you can buy them for MSRP, not sure. Still at msrp, it's a few thousand more than the M2.

I've all but decided on the M2 which is as quick, will probably fit me better (6'6" (1.98M)), gets better mileage and is more narrow and tossable. Yeah the 350 has an awesome sound and look that will garner much more attention if that's what you want.

Took a used GT350 out for a test drive after test driving a used M4 and the GT350 had me grinning from ear to ear the entire test drive. For a DD I would take the m2, a weekend warrior I would take the gt350.

The GT350 is just overkill for me, now with the gt350ish upgrades the GT is getting for 2018 makes it an interesting prospect.

New V8 that revs higher and has more power, 475 HP is likely. Active Exhaust, virtual dash, Magneride, 10 speed auto, all at an affordable price and readily available... hmmmm

Really boiling down to a M2 or a 2018 GT with all the goodies for me this summer/fall
