Not sure how that's possible. The US isn't getting that many cars. 750 last year globally maybe half went stateside. It's a big country with lots of dealers. How many allocations can one dealer get when there are 350 cars coming to the country?

Western Australia has few dealerships scattered over a very large geographical (see below) area with fairly small but not insignificant population (about 2.5m total) some of which are incredibly wealthy (resources sector).

MY18 2-series start production in July. Pricing should be announced in June.

At this point, I'm waiting. I know it is probably 1,000,000 miles stretch, but I really wish we get comp pack with cf roof.

My dealer says BMW is making enough M2's to meet demand. Basically he said you sell one you get an allocation. I went in said I want an M2 and within 2 weeks I had my allocation and my car hit the port yesterday. The 700 number is for model year 2016 I guarantee that production will be much higher for 2017 and beyond. It's not a rare or limited production car.

It may not remain rare but it certainly has been to this point in the US for the most part.

In a lot of places it takes many months to get an allocation. I think your case was the exception. Those that want to do research and call around will probably find an upcoming allocation but those that just check a handful of local dealers will probably be on a LONG waiting list.

Maybe but my dealer won the centers of excellence award and is a high volume dealer in an affluent area. They didn't seem like allocations were a problem anywhere. 2016 was a problem but 2017 and beyond shouldn't be an issue, they will make as many as needed. Maybe some dealers are artificially making this an issue so they can increase $$$?

Depends on the model introduction. LCI usually comes around 3.5 years into a models life. 2 series was launched 2014.

Summer updates (i.e. from July production onwards, deliveries beginning September time), or model upgrade measures are usually formerly announced mid May (second week, 14th/15th/16th). Certainly have been for the past 4 years.

As 2 series LCI is around the corner and due at this time, the M2 LCI may well be announced May 2017 too.

Here's hoping at least!!!

Well that simply isn't true. Though supply has significantly caught up with demand in many areas, some locations still have double-digit wait lists.

Most can now find an allocation quickly if willing to call around and/or do remote delivery but "They didn't seem like allocations were a problem anywhere" is either your misinterpretation or their ignorance.

Maybe I misinterpreted what they were telling me but from what I understand BMW is building them to meet demand. Not a rare or limited car and when I see adverts for dealerships trying to sell these things for thousands of dollars above msrp it makes me scratch my head and think a little. Love my dealership. Very honest and easy to work with.

Yeah I agree selling above MSRP shouldn't make sense at this point and I think we may be getting to a point where actual price negotiation, even just a bit, might be able to occur.

Has there been any suggestion that the M2 will be offered with something similar to the 3/4 Competition package?

And would the engine even be able to squeeze much in the way of performance out of it?

Without a different engine, water injection or a new turbo, I can't see how. It can't increase power a la 3/4 comp package. I will admit, if there was a power bump, it would be nice if such a comp pack option could be readily retrofitted.

I was looking at an M3 a while back, and asked if the competition pack could retrospectively be installed. The dealership said no sadly.
