Could the 788M Y-Spoke wheels be these? Or a variation thereof as featured on 3.0 CSL Homage.
Appreciate these are 20" though. http://cdn.bmwblog.com/wp-content/up...d-Este-008.jpg Last edited by as7920; 09-26-2017 at 06:25 PM.. |

The description of the 788M forged leightweight wheel in that latest USA-spec VIN (option 2QT) mentions that it has a Y-spoke design. I like that, as Y-spoke reminds me to the 763M wheel (M4 CS [Orbit Grey] + M2 M Performance [black]) and the 359M wheel (M3 GTS [black] + 1M [silver]): a great design that I always liked, hard to be beaten by aftermarket wheel designers. IMHO the 359M wheel design was clearly inspired by the cool E46 M3 CSL wheel design. Left: E46 M3 CSL wheel (127M) | Right: 1M wheel (359M): Actually, there were two wheel codes for the CSL wheel: - wheel code 127: original CSL wheel (235/35 + 265/30) - wheel code 163: "CSL style" - "ZCP" - "Competition" (225/40 + 255/35) http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80849 Here's to hoping that the optional 788M wheel will bring another great wheel design to the table. Alike the Hockenheim Silver Metallic color: looking forward to how it looks.

And while we're at it. For the record: the BMW GT6 Vision Concept wheels were the 2er M Performance wheels (19" forged light alloy wheels - presented in Autumn 2013) painted all black, featuring a red colored rim protector:

Almost 12 months to the day since I paid a deposit for a CS. The wait is starting to get to me now.
Looks like everything you'll want on your CS (or competition) to make it the car we all wanted the base M2 to be is going to be an option. I guess BMW are doing that to keep the basic price under an M4. In reality once you spec it its going to be well into M4 comp pack pricing. In the UK say its 8k over a normal M2. Say 52-53k starting price. add brakes, seats, carbon interior, forged wheels etc its going to be a 65k plus M2. The fact the US vins are showing it called 'competition' do we know its NOT getting the CS badging?

I've also asked to my dealer if I could make a deposit for the M2 CS . They told me that for the moment they cannot make any kind of deposit, as the car is not bookable in Italy yet...
Maybe by the end of the year we'll have some more details about the production for EU countries. but, what makes me corious, is why they have produced a little number of cars for the US market this month... |

Since you're so patient and full of knowledge, can I bug you for your thoughts on whether you'd get perf vs. regular leather seats? Perf sounds nice, for when it gets hot, but I'm not familiar with BMW's seats, and I thought I've read somewhere that they might not wear well, and wrinkle more? is that true? Other considerations? |

Assuming of course that it can put the power down.
One of the most disappointing aspects of my M2 is its inability to put the power down out of slow corners when you seriously gas it. Traction controls kicks in very early to control the torque boost. And turning the traction control off doesn't help all that much because all the rear end wants to do then is step out. Overall, it a very poor rear axle that I hope they improve in the CS. |

Things like weight savings, better ability to put down the power the car already has and better seats would be the things I'd pay up for but that's just my opinion. I might pay for mirrors too. |

Guess they figured out that people who want an M2 would have bought one already and those that didn't was mostly because it is not hardcore and fast enough for them. Those that want luxury would have bought the M4. Now they are going for a different segment with the CS. Given limited resources they might have to drop the base M2 in-order to allocate sufficient resources to produce the CS and the CSL. |

I think the main reason they will drop the base M2 is the redundancy of the N55 engine which cannot meet the revised emissions regs due Aug 2018 which is a shame because it is a lovely sounding motor in the M2 and pretty reliable.
The new M2CS looks like being a highly customiseable offering with an attractive starting price maybe 8-10k above the outgoing model and with the ability to take things way higher on the £££ $$$ front if you want to build in all the tasty new bits - seats - wheels - trim etc. A fully, fully loaded DCT Hockenheim might be pushing £65k/$86K. |

I'm right there with you. For us folks who live in hot climates where it reaches near 40c with 100% humidity in the summer for weeks on end - seat ventilation of any kind is a big deal to us. It's around 32c today where I live, and it's the fall season already!

Whether you prefer perforated or non-perforated is a personal choice. I can't help you with that. Quite likely your local BMW Genius can. Let's just trust that, as usual, BMW did its homework properly about long-term use or the consequences of spilling food or beverages on perforated "M2 Competition" seats. Here's an example of Black Dakota Leather with perforation and red contrast stitching on a BMW F48 X1 (it's an option). As you can notice, some parts are perforated (see especially the upper seat parts), not all (see especially the lower seat parts). (to 'zoom in': right-click a picture - select "View Image" - click on the picture).
