Lotus Evora GT 6-Speed. Glorious. Loved driving it hard as much as the 718 Cayman GT4. Alas, could not fit an infant rear-facing car seat in the back, and wife only lets me keep one two-seater at a time. Already have a surgically track-only ND2 Miata.

Almost bought a Porsche gt4 2016 but end up with my m2 competition instead
Less money, more torque, no crazy long gears with high rev powerband, more room… I have no regrets, still love my M2c |

or somehow find a new Civic Type R for MSRP and not $75k stealerships in cali are charging for. Would probably have to drive to mid west to pull that off. |

No Golf R votes? I like the idea of 4 door practicality, but still not big, 6 speed, and still lighter weight.

Looking back at some of my choices, probably Lotus Evora GT as my second choice, and then Porsche GT4 third. I know I was already on the market for an M4 or Lexus RC F but those felt too big.
I don't know what my fourth was going to be but I know my 5th was a Miata if I have more garage space. Even before buying the M2, I already knew I was going to get Dinan i.e. full product catalog on it pretty much bumping the total allocated cash to around $90K; M2, Dinan, Xpel. That brought it pretty close to the Evora GT or maybe even the Porsche GT4, two cars that I probably would not modify too much. |

was looking at e92 m3s but prices are looney.
used lc500s are nice, but i think i dont drive enough to appreciate it. its more of a long distance cruiser and nice place to be in traffic jams. plus, since its such a niche car it would be hard to offload if i didn't like it.

Hmmm....good question. It's hard for me to get in and out of low-rider sports cars and a 6MT was a must. BMW is one of the very few that meets those criteria. I'd say an E92 M3 would be the one.

I sold my A45 AMG to get into the M2. The A45 is basically a bigger/faster Golf R (both great cars).

my M2C is not a daily driver and i was specifically looking for a weekend / fair-weather fun car. late 2020 / early 2021, i was cross-shopping low mileage, near-investment quality Z4M coupe and E46M3 while trying to find an M2C allocation. i also briefly considered 911s and 718s, but they were over budget.
i still very much want a Z4M coupe...but will never part with my M2C.

Have you driven the 2GR (3.5l) in a Lotus product? It sounds every bit as intoxicating as a 981 GT4’s 3.8l H6. Motorsport in sound and feel. You’d never guess it was a mass-produced Toyota lump, much less a V6 of any kind, had media not disseminated the fact. The motor is very linear and responsive (save for a minor need to either remove the third cat or add a mild tune for more consistent blips), but still offers solid torque from around 3K rpm (over 2,000 less than a 981 3.8l motor). Double wishbone suspension, mild rear-biased weight, AP brakes from the factory, perfect damping and appropriate spring rates from the factory, incredible feeling in the wheel (hydraulic rack), mechanical grip for days. It’s an ultimate driver’s car that does not punish the driver the way you’d expect. I’ve got a buyer for my track-only ND2 Miata and am currently on the hunt to add an Evora 400 or GT to my garage (whilst keeping the M2C). It’ll swap back and forth between the Evora and M2 for both street and track duties because it is in fact that versatile. Ever since my first drive in one a year ago, I can’t get it out of my mind, even when driving friends’ more mainstream performance cars (GT4, GT3, C8, etc.). There’s a purity that is unmatched by anything else weighing over 3,000 pounds.

The only car that would get me out of this F87 is a 911… plain old 7MT 991 Carrera S would do.
