You realize he never actually said "limiting production" right?

"BMW will be HAPPY to lease you an M3/M4 or an M235 for probably a much better deal than an M2 because those are their mass market vehicles."
M2 is not a mass market vehicle like an M3, or an M235i, duh! rofl.

Only way I would consider this car now is straight cash homey...
Might have to start thinking about CPO M3 for my next vehicle. That would be a keeper imo...Not easy to find now, but they'll be out there in future years.

I'll be buying. This is a car to hang on to anyway. Although, I'm waiting for MY2018 LCI - that will be the desirable model in the future

Woof, I knew it would be bad, but didn't expect below 50%. I guess that means rates for 10k and 12k mi/yr come to 51 and 50%, respectively.

Horrible lease rate...
the positive here is that there will be far more cars financed, and that combined with a somehwat lower production will work wonders for resale. I wish the m3 leased this terribly.

Lease rates for the M2 were always expected to be crap. BMW set a precedent with the low volume 1M and many of us expected they'd follow suit again. Back then it was cheaper to lease an M3 than a 1M. Not surprising history repeats itself. Is it because they want to squeeze more money out of you or because they want enthusiasts to own it? Both sound like pure conjecture.

yea but turning it in at 28k means the dealer will mark it up to 40k as a CPO. they probably made the residual so low to not cannibalize m3/4 sales. same reason they are not making a vert.

That is a terrible residual but that is not unusual for a new model, the finance arms predict really low residuals to protect themselves and will adjust the residual as they turn some used inventory and get a resale value history. I was hoping for a reasonable residual but didn't hold out much hope. I will pass on leasing.

Now I am really not sure what to do. Really prefer to lease through my business, but for a $1k lease I can get a lot of other cars. Jaguar F type V8 S can be had for that price.

Not sure what quotes you have read from BMW officials but the ones I have read have clearly indicated they expect this car to be the sales leader in its class, they have also talked about building as many as they can sell. I wouldn't be surprised if the volume eventually is inline with M235i sales.
