So if I purchase these wheels, does the stock suspension have the required adjustment for negative camber to account for that requirement (listed above)? I want some track wheels but I really don’t want to modify the suspension if I can avoid it (e.g. camber plates). Please advise ASAP!
<edit> Apologies...I hadn't read the entire post when I typed this via phone. I see now that there is some discussion around this topic but if I went 265 front on stock ride height, would pulling the camber pins be enough for me to daily drive and track the car on EC-7's withouth rubbing/interference? Front camber is not adjustable unfortunately like it is on previous BMW models with removable camber pins, so you'd may get some rubbing on full-lock turns or during hard cornering. Using a smaller tire may help in the short run, but is not recommended as it would result in a sidewall that is either too short or too tall. With that said, I strongly recommend adding camber plates if you plan to track the car even a handful of times per year. It's a one-time cost that will drastically reduce recurring costs due to reduced tire wear. Camber plates distribute the cornering load evenly across the tread's surface, rather than putting it on the outer shoulder of the tire. In addition, you'll appreciate the increased grip in cornering knowing your tires aren't wearing prematurely. --Dylan

Major Update in post #2
The first production sample wheels are here, along with a full fitment test and proper photoshoot. Read post #2 to find out how a staggered fitment is very close to a direct fit, even with aggressive R888R tires

Did you guys get to test out the extra rubber in anger? How did it feel with the added rubber?
I wonder if BMW warranty covers the giant grooves carved out of my 788 wheel drum and the destroyed caliper paint... Surprising that made it passed QA |

This was simply a test fitment and small photoshoot. We did not have a chance to take the car out and give it the beans. However, we do have some photos showing the improved barrel clearances that I have dropped below. First, you can see the clearances with the OEM wheels: Here are some EC-7 pictures, showing improved barrel and spoke side clearances: This added clearance will prevent rocks and other road debris getting jammed in the wheel and damaging the barrels or the paint on the calipers. - Max

Hi Apex, would 255/35 in front and 275/35 in rear work with these wheels and avoid the need for any camber work (assuming Pilot Sport 4S)? I'm sure a lot of us are looking for plug n' play and would rather not have to adjust the suspension to ensure there is no rub. Would appreciate your thoughts!

While the 255/275 stagger can fit, please keep in mind that these tire sizes will be quite stretched. To prevent this, we would recommend sticking with the 265/285 tire stagger. We did test our 19x9.5 ET28 up front on a standard M2 Competition and even with a 265mm R888R, the tire sat flush with the fender. We would recommend a small amount of camber up front if planning to run an R compound tire similar to this. There is a good chance that with a standard and less aggressive 265mm street tire, would provide a much easier fit. This would be ideal as it would still provide proper sidewall support and will likely not need any camber adjustment. - Max

Please please make the Arc 8 wheels in 18" that will clear OG M2 brakes. From what I'm reading in multiple threads that is what everyone is interested in, not the 19" versions, myself included. 18" Arc 8s with beefy tires is straight porn.

The 19" wheels we have developed here are intended for those with the M2 Competition with the larger 400mm OEM brake system. This kit is VERY large and requires a minimum of 19" wheels to clear, regardless of design or manufacturer. - Max

I recently installed M Performance Suspension and camber Plates and plan to wait for the new 19" Apex wheels (9.5"/10.5") and go to 265/285 setup. |

So the new EC7's in 19x9.5 et28 and 19x10.5 et45 changes things a bit (I have some on order).
I am determined to get RS4's on this thing. With the above EC7's on stock suspension with camber plates (~-2.5 camber atm) will 275/35/19 front and 305/30/19 rear work? I know the tire height is 1.5% change which is just outside of the green zone but.. Thoughts? |
